Hi everyone! I'm actually switching our May 2011 wedding to Dreams Riveria Cancun from one of the dreams resorts in Dominican Republic, am super excited considering its still pretty much brand new.  We're waiting on the wedding coordinator to confirm our date is still available. its  been about a week already, we're just waiting to hear from them, after that hopefully its a smooth process! anyone go visit the resort yet? we were wondering what brands they consider as "premium liquor" and would love to see pictures if anyone would like to share :-)

I'm a Dreams Riviera Cancun May 2011 Bride as well!  My date is May 9th at 4pm.  Sooooo excited!  Are you working with a travel agent or are you trying to deal with the resort directly?  I would strongly recommend working with a TA as they can assist in getting in touch with Ana, who is very busy and sometimes very slow in returning emails and calls...but don't stress about that, I hear she's fantastic once you arrive.

Happy Planning!

we are working with a travel agent we got really lucky my fiance has the travel store as a client and the ceo hooked us up w/ one of their top travel agents, she has had a few brides get married at dreams riviera and really recommends  the resort. the pics i've seen i like.  i just wish they'd hurry i'm anxious to see if our date is still available, org we wanted to do dominican republic.. hopefully our date will still be may 28th 2011 around 4 pm as well. i think we may do a beach ceremony w/ a pool reception and hopefully a cocktail hour on one of the terraces if its all available that evening. how far are you along in the planning process and everything?

Not very far LOL...My TA has recommended we wait until the package prices are out to send the STD cards out but most of my guests know the date and have confirmed they want to attend.  I'll have about 50 guests along with us so it should be a pretty exciting group...I'm about to buy my bridesmaid dresses online and I've bought a couple of bunches of seashells for the tables...that's all I've done.  probably won't worry about the dress until around Christmas time and then the decor items, the OOT gifts and the rest of that stuff...I know it'll creep up quickly though so I'm trying to stay organized and on top of things...I have great friends willing to help and also have a friend in Cancun that has offered to help me with anything i need down there in advance...so I hope it'll all turn out okay LOL

How about you?  How far along are you?

Oh and DO NOT PAY for the cocktail hour...my TA said in all her years doing weddings nobody ever pays for a cocktail hour...it's a money grab.  Just tell your guests to meet at one of the bars (they're likely all part of the all inclusive plan anyways) and have them have a couple drinks there while you do your photos.  My TA saved me $2000 by not having to pay the extras on the cocktail hour...i love her! LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
