Invitations?

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I are getting married in March of 2010 in Key West during our cruise on the Carnival Freedom. I opted to not send out save the dates and sort of just told people about our plans. I want to send invitations out with information to give everyone plenty of time to save. I was thinking of sending them in August. My mother seems to think that's too early, but I want to give people different payment options. Also, what sort of information did you include with your invites? I'm trying to do mine on my own and make a booklet sort of like this one. I was going to have the invitation, the cruise schedule and wedding events schedule, reservation and rates information, as well as travel requirements. What do you think? I would love to see what everyone else has done! Thanks!

Hi snowlane,

congrats and welcome!

I'm guessing u meant march 2011??

I think ou're idea is great and including as much info as possible is great, but not overwhelming them with info!

We passed on the STD's too, since everyone needed as much time as possible to book and save given the distance! but we feel the need to include as much info on the invites as possible, we looked into passport style invites but couldn't fit it into our budget in the end, so we are swayed o do traditional invites and jazz the up with starfish etc.... however we will include inserts with TA details and booking instructions for those not booked instead of doing 2 separate invites!! Ok, Im rambling now but there is lots of options for you to do, look into what you really like!

As for the time frame, it is completely up to you? Im doing mine 6 months out and thats us traveling fro scotland to mexico and also some guests from the US too.... but we have booked mostly 14 months out.... with some who will take it to the wire, family just thing it is a formality to do invites!!

Good luck

I am doing a cruise wedding in June of 2011. At first I was going to do STDs, but I have told almost everyone on my guest list already. Since I am on a budget, I created newsletters and will be giving those out to the "maybe" people and the "yes" people. I bought really pretty paper to print them on and I went to a craft store and put different stamps on my envelopes. I wanted to do something really pretty like the booklet you showed, but I am just not creative like that. So, my newsletters have an "invitation" feel to them, and they also include everything about the trip. I also have a website. I am notifiying everyone now because I want them to be able to save their money. So far, I have had a positive response.

Hey, I am also getting married in Key West in March on the Imagination. We did send save the dates with our wedding website info. We ordered the STD's and created a website through shutterfly and it has been great-we have 32 cabins booked already:) I will be sending my invites out in January. Hope that helps:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
