Photographer in Rooms at RIU

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am getting married at RIU Negril next month and was just informed that no photographers are allowed in the rooms to take pictures before the wedding. Did any other RIU brides get told this and if so how did you handle the pre-wedding pictures?

Theres another thread on this somewhere. I'm getting married at the one in Ocho Rios and I saw someone wrote about that as well. But I've seen plenty of professional pics in rooms, so the photog had to be in there. I mean, how can they stop it really. If your paying the fee for them to be onsite, it would be odd that they would be restricted to certain areas. Hopefully some other Negrils brides will chime in, but I think there has to be a way to get around this.

Do you know if this applies to the Riu Negril as well?

Yes this does apply to the Riu Negril. I am getting married July 24 and I got my email last week about the $200 vendor fee and policy stating no vendors allowed in the Rooms or Blocks( meaning buildings). I started email Dionne last year about prices for photographers and because she quoted me less than the $200 she is will to honor that email quote. But the new fee is $200. So if your photographer is not staying at your hotel it may be cheaper to book a room versus pay the $200 fee.

This makes sense for our booking at the ROR. We are bringing our photographer with us for the week so I guess because he is a guest, the restrictions of shooting in the rooms do not apply. I have seen other photos of weddings there and they had interior photos but I don't know if those photographers were also staying at the hotel or not.

The best way with RIU is simply get photographer a room for one night and then he will have no limitations whatsoever. I would recommend Frank Panaro Photography who does alot of weddings at RIU in Ochos Rios. Does great work but prices are anywhere from $2500 and up for photography only. He is excellent and did my wedding. Lots of photos on site from RIU, Ochos Rios.

Website is www.frankpanarophotography.com

All these big resorts want you to use their hotel photo studio, but they are below average usually. If you want beautiful wedding day images, then you have no choice but to use an outside photographer as you will be happy in the years after your wedding day when you look back at the wedding day photos and videos.

Best of luck always !!!!

Sarah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
