I am getting married in Turks & Caicos April 2011. We will be there for 1 week (with some family). I was wondering if anyone has gone from T&C on to another island for an extended honeymoonhuh.gif At this point, I am not sure if I want to extend our time in T&C or just try to go on to another destination. Travel time and $$ are a consideration. Anyone have any suggestions?

We were on providenciales and we loved every minute of our 10 day stay! I think wherever you go you will be happy.. turks and caicos is GORGEOUS!!!!! and if anything if you wanted you can switch resorts for a different feel.

Which island and resort are you getting married at?

If you want to extend your honeymoon, do it within the T&C vs flying elsewhere (which would probably require a stop in Miami), there are a lot of options that take you away from Provo:

2 of my favorites

Parrot Cay:http://www.parrotcay.com/

Where many of the rich and famous go (and many also have villas there). It's a private island about a 30 minute boat ride from Provo. You must be staying there or have a day pass to land on the island. They have private boats that take you there and back to Provo. Very old style Caribbean architecture. One of the top rated spas in the Caribbean. Breakfast is included in most packages. Beautiful beach and great service. (it's very quiet!) Hubby just took me and my girls there for mother's day and we had a wonderful time! They seem to have some specials going on lately as well. (Food is expensive but tasty!)

Amanyara: Amanyara - Luxury beach resort Caribbean - home

This resort is located on Provo but it is on the Northwestern Point of the island and I swear you feel like you have gone to another world. The Beach there is one of my favorites here, very deserted! Rooms and service are jaw dropping, very understated Asian elegance. Food is yummy, and you just can't say enough about it. We had a family reunion at one of their villas 2 years ago (won the stay in a silent auction!) and we also stayed overnight last year and it's just amazing. Many stars also stay here, most recently Prince who was playing with one of the local bands. It's about a 30-40 minute drive from Grace Bay, but you feel like you're in an Zen paradise. They brought in a ton of Asian artists and builders to create the place...really lovely.

Both of those would take you away but not subject you to the hassle of flying...seriously, hanging out in an airport more than you have to on your honeymoon....not fun LOL!

If you want something more rustic, you could go to Middle Caicos: Blue Horizon Resort on Turks & Caicos Island

Beautiful Views, very secluded, but you are really on your own (you'll have to shop in Provo and bring your own food, as there aren't any restaurants on the island or shops or groceries etc) (only 200 or so residents really). No TV or internet in the rooms but the view of Mudjin Harbor is spectacular!

If you want to see photos of sessions on Parrot Cay or Amanyara, take a look at our blog, there are quite a few!

Michelle you will love Beaches T&C. That is where my husband and I were married! We loved it and we loved staying there the entire time. We got to see and do more things after the wedding it was really nice. But I think either way would be fun..Amanyara looks AMAZING!!!!!

I would highly suggest hiring tropical imaging for your photos. We did for BD, TTD, and wedding day before the ceremony. I also hired Shenique for hair and makeup on BD and wedding day! Let me know if you need anything! Im here to help!

I would have to agree with Meagan, we were there for 9 days and with the wedding and everything by Monday (2 days after the wedding) we were just feeling relaxed like it was a "vacation" and not wedding mode and we had to leave Wed so me personally, I would have liked a few extra honeymoon days just to enjoy ourselves more on the resort than what we had time to do (things like the glass bottom boat - didn't get to do, etc...)

Hi Meaghan & Girasole -

Actually you both sent me pictures and info on Beaches (and TI). I have to say... I ended up booking TI (Ileana) because of all your reviews and your pictures. THANK YOU. I know I will be more than happy with them. The time we are booked at Beaches is from Sun - Sun. Our wedding is going to be on Thursday. Doesn't give us much time for honeymoon after the wedding. I looked into extending, the room we currently have booked - Govener's 1 Bedroom Honeymoon Suite - is not available to extend an extra day or two, we either have to go to a lower room or change rooms. Besides, for the week in April that we are there, the room rates are so expensive. I looked into changing the date to 3 weeks later (1st week in may) and the prices actually dropped $1200 for the same room!! The only problem is my daughter is in a year round school and her track out time is in April, that's why we went with that date. If it was in May, I would definitely extend a few extra days with no problem. Just not sure what to do at this point.

Meaghan - How far in advance did you hire Shenique for your hair and makeup? Did she come to the resort or did you have to go to her. We booked Ileana with Tropical Images. I can't wait! Still deciding if I am going to do a TTD. We are having a small AHR when we get back, so I have to decide if I want to wear the same dress or not. It does look like fun to TTD. This is my second marriage, so the dress is not going to be as traditional or fancy as the first. When I got married the first time, I never even heard of TTD. On my first dress, I took the long train and made a Christening outfit for my daughter. It came out AWESOME! At least she will have that to pass down to her children someday.

Michelle-2 I booked Shenique back in January for my wedding this November your wedding is far in advance but it may not hurt to just send her a quick communication and see what she recommends wether she books it now or waits a bit.

Hockeymom: my FILs are all flying from Chicago and I know that they paid $545 and my FSIL paid $602. Those prices include our 5% discount from AA for setting up a discount code with them and it includes all taxes and fees. When we first decided on T&C I called and asked AA typically when do airfares go down, although initially everyone said they didn't know, when I got transfered to group sales to book my discount code the guy was cool enough to put me on hold and he found some past data. Long story short he told me October and January is typically when they saw the lowest fares appear but other than that the fares pretty much stayed about the same. So I checked the airfares every week and sure enough airfares went from being $650 to $545 in October so I got my FILs to book, in January the airfares went down again but not by nearly as much hence the reason my SIL's tickets were $602. Right now fares are all in the $700s. I would expect airfares to go back down after summer again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
