Newbie from NC - considering Dreams Mexico

Hello all - I just got engaged this past weekend and the only real decision we have made so far is that we are definitely doing a destination wedding! I love to travel and he just has too many friends & family for a tradional wedding (we do plan on doing a party back home after the wedding). I don't think we are getting married unil Nov 2011, so I have plenty of time...but I just can't stop myself from starting to look at locations for the wedding. I am thinking of the Riviera Maya or Cancun and so far I have been impressed with the wedding packages offered by the Dreams resorts. If you have any opinions or recommendations, I would really appreciate them!

Courtney,

All the resorts are beautiful (seriously!), but Barcelo Maya Palace is one of our FAVORITE resorts. It is a huge property and there are just so many places to shoot, both day and gorgeous evening shots. The colors are warm and rich and it has the most photogenic Grecian gazebo. :) It has it's own private beach which is awesome too. I haven't posted photos from that one yet but I will get some on our vendor marketplace thread in just a little while. The Barcelo couple is actually from Greensboro, NC. :) One of our other favorites is the Royal in Playa. Not only is the property beautiful, but it is easy to walk into Playa and get some cool shots downtown. We do have some photos from a wedding there on our thread if you want to check it out:

I will let you know when I get those others posted too. :)

Hi Courtney congrats and welcome to the forum. There are tons of beautiful places in Riviera Maya and Cancun to choose from and lots of brides on here from both. I know that some of them will lend their experiences and share info to help you make the best decision for you. Good luck and happy planning!

Hi Courtney! Congrats on your engagement! The Dreams resorts are amazing and have great wedding packages. My brother in law was married at Dreams Cancun and we got married at Dreams Puerto Vallarta. Do some searches for threads on Dreams and you will find a ton of information. Nov/Dec are beautiful times to get married in Mexico too. Happy planning :o)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
