I have a friend getting married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana in Feb 2010. I can't wait to go, it looks amazing.

Ablj209 link has some good info in it, recommend checking it out. Specially since pictures were posted there and we all love pictures.

My friend and I are also trying to get a dedicated thread going, you can check it out here...

Good luck, I am sure whatever you decide will be amazing.

Hi there. We are getting married January 14, 2011 at the Riu Palace Macao in Punta Cana. After flip-flopping resorts for weeks trying to decide which to go to we went with the Riu. I have heard nothing but good things from everyone and anyone who has ever stayed at the a Riu. Staff is supposed to be wonderful and the food is supposed to be great. Plus the beaches at the Riu Palaces are supposed to be a lot more private then at most resorts - so that is great for a beach wedding.

I am not getting married at a Riu, but I stayed at the Riu Bachata (and visited Meringue and Mambo as well) last year.  If you have any questions about these resorts, I'm more than willing to answer them.  I also have some pictures of the wedding gazebo at the Bachata, and can give an honest review of the resort when we went in May, 2010!  We saw a wedding when we were there as well.

My FI and I will be visiting the Riu Palace Punta Cana this March, as well as the sister resorts. Let me know if there is anything I can check out for you while I'm there. I just could not stand the thought of booking a wedding at a resort (and country) I've never been to!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
