Riu Palace Mexico October 2010

Hello!

My name is Jessica and I am getting married October, 21, 2010 at the Riu Palace Mexico!

I am looking for any advice, tips or suggestions from anyone who has already had a destination wedding.

I have a few specific questions:

1. What are the typical vows used in a Mexican civil marriage ceremony?

2. Which restaurant at the Riu Palace Mexico should I pick for my reception (anyone who has been to the Riu Palace Mexico pls let me know which atmosphere/food would be a good option)

3. Should I have a beach or gazebo wedding site? I've heard the beach can get quite crowded and attract a lot of spectators

4. What is a typical "wedding day" schedule like for a destination wedding? Our ceremony is at 2pm then I think we'll have some pictures done then reception/dinner in the evening. Any suggestions as to what should happen between pictures and dinner? And any suggestions for after dinner?

5. What's the best way to transport my wedding dress? We're flying with WestJet from Toronto

6. Are there any extras I should anticpate on purchasing for the wedding that would be neccessary? We're planning to purchase a photography package but aren't sure if we'll need more decorations. etc.

7. Has anyone had a vanilla wedding cake in Mexico before? Does it taste okay?

8. Any suggestions for keeping cool on the wedding day?

Thanks for your help, looking forward to hearing from you:)

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I think if you try the Mexico forum many of the brides may be able to assist you with these questions. Also if you try using the search engine you may find answers to similar questions asked by other brides. Either way I know the forum has the answers you seek. Good luck and happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
