I LOVE HER! I am getting married March 2011, but we had her do some engagement photos for us back in February during our planning trip. She made us feel so comfortable and her pictures were AMAZING. We had let her know that our date was 3/19/10, but made the mistake of not putting down a deposit right away. A month or so later she called to let us know that her manager ended up booking her for another wedding for that same day without consulting her. Needless to say, we are missing out on having her do our wedding. Andy and kellie, who I haven't met, will now be covering - their pictures are amazing too :) I'm looking forward to meeting them down there, but my advice to brides would to be book as soon as you know you would like one of the vendors down there. There are only so many to choose from, and they seem to book up quickly!

I did NOT use Ileana for our wedding, and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. Trust me, I look at our wedding photos now which are nice that another photographer took, and just WISH that Ileana had done our wedding. We are trying to plan a trip down in October and I hope to have Ileana do a shoot with us. Perhaps a "Trash the Dress" shoot, but not really trash it! I loved my dress! But since we can't retake our wedding day photos, this was an idea Ileana came up with. Do yourself a favor and choose her, you won't go wrong! If there was one thing I could redo, this would be it! Her work is UNREAL. =)

The same thing hapened to us :(  I had been in contact with Ileana and before I could put our deposit down, her boss booked her for another shoot. So she's asked me who else I would like to shoot our wedding and after looking at the Tropical Imaging site, I think I'm debating between Andy and David. Both of their portfolios look fantastic, but I've heard so many good things about Ileana, that I'm still nervous about going with someone else. And a little disappointed too.

We actually don't hold dates until we have a deposit, it's company policy.   To ease your mind though and help with your decisions, my husband is Andy, we started the company 15 years ago and he trained Ileana.  He has been flown to many other countries to shoot weddings specifically, with some clients coming to the T&C  for him to shoot their portraits or  weddings or models portfolios.  He's British, has a dry and fun sense of humor, very down to earth and is a great guy to be around (he has 2 daughters, and our dog is a female so he is surrounded by estrogen and can talk bridal details like no other!!!).   David came to work for us at the same time as Ileana and is a fun guy as well.  He's from Spain originally and has traveled all over the world not just shooting people but does amazing nature, underwater and commercial photography, one of my friends recently had him do a portrait session for her family and her comment was "so fun, such amazing photos and he's pretty dishy to look at too!!!LOL".

One thing we have tried to do with our company and our photographers is to make sure that if you book with us, you will get the same quality no matter who you shoot with.  Ileana coordinates the schedules for weddings (David coordinates schedules for commercial photography, kellie coordinates for portraits and Andy tends to deal with making sure the company is running well).  All of our brides first contacts come to Ileana and are scheduled accordingly.  She's fabulous, but believe me so are the rest of our photographers.  We have been very proactive to make sure all of our photographers go through training with master photographers from around the world usually 2 times a year.   Given that all of our photographers have been with us for over 6+ years each gives our company real consistency and we are a real family.  (In fact, David, Kelly and Ileana all bought houses next door to each other)

Check the blog out and search their names, if you want to email someone specifically and ask them questions you can email them, no worries!

Thanks for all of the love guys, I pass the comments on to everyone at the office!

Wow. I didn't know you owned TI either Krys, OR that Andi was your husband. And when I said I was disappointed, it was in no way meant to mean that I didn't think any of the other photographers wouldn't do a great job. I think it was just because I've heard so much talk about Ileana, and the brides I had talked to had hyped her up so much, not to mention I'm just in love with her work; that when I first heard she wouldn't be doing my wedding, I went into panic mode, lol. Photography is one of our splurges for the wedding and just wanted to make sure we were making the right choice. But once I actually had time to sit and look thru the other portfolios and blogs, I saw that I'd probably be happy with any of the TI photographers...they all do a really beautiful job. And each time I go back to the TI site to look at more pictures, I get more and more excited about booking with TI!!

And I love that David, Kelly and Ileana all live next door to each other. Everyone must get along really well together!

LOL!  Andy and I have been on island so long now, everyone just knows us and the business, we're kind of old timers here.  I feel like I know all of the T&C brides here and forget you aren't "local" as well.  No worries guys, I completely understand the concerns with photography and certainly didn't take the "frustration" the wrong way.  I just wanted to assure you that we are truly a big happy family and Andy and I do not under any circumstances allow a photographer out shooting a "Brilliant" bride without a lot of training, on the job experience and more training etc.  It's been a long while since we brought anyone new on board, as our photographers are all happy and have been with us long term which makes things great for us and our brides.  I feel very blessed to have them all in our lives, professionally and personally.

The countdown to your weddings is on!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
