Semi Surprise Engagement

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I've had a long engagement but here is how it happened.

Ryan (My FI) and I had been together for 5 years, we met in college. He actually was driving past me with some of his friends and when he saw me he had them reverse the car and he got out and ran up to me and introduced himself. We've been going strong ever since.

So he is really big on luxury items, big diamonds, brand names. So I figured he couldn't really afford to get me the type of ring he would think is appropriate. So I patiently waited. We share a bank account and I pay all the bills, one month I noticed he was having trouble with his portion of bills. I thought something was going on because he was planning a date for us the following weekend and it was supposed to be a surprise.

He told me what I should wear because I didn't know where I was going and for once in our 5 year relationship, we were matching in blue. He always said how corny that was but now he did it on purpose. We go for a very long drive and I saw a highway sign for Chateau Elan which is a winery out here in GA. I figured we would be going there and he said yes. To make a long story short we had our 4 courses and after the dinner course a letter was handed to me in an envelope. I'm like what the hey is this? Lol. I opened it and it was the most beautiful letter explaining how I make him a better person and why he loves me. At the end of the letter (I'm bawling by now) it said, "with that being said..." and i look over through my tears and I see him with my engagement ring on his knee and he asked me to marry him. So now i'm crying and snotting up lol. I say yes and the whole restaurant applaused. Everyone was in on it except me, even my mom who I called immediately after. Anyway, I think the only thing that will top that will be my wedding day. Just wanted to share. I can't figure out to post photos sorry. Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
