I am not having one. I figured that if they are willing to come to Mexico, that is enough. Plus, I really dislike going to bridal showers. I don't think i would find mine any different.

Wow that sounds really negative.

Anyway, I have found that the couples showers are more enjoyable. There is not as much sitting around and waiting, and there isn't the opeing gifts show. It's more of a party.

I would ask the host if there is a theme to the gifts (ie lingerie) or if the bride is registered anywhere and if most people are getting gifts from the registry. My shower was all women and more of the wedding-gift variety. It was mostly for my mom's friends who can't make it to the wedding but wanted to celebrate with me anyway.

I dont think we will be doing the bridal shower or bachelorette/bachelorre party thing. Like Jenesis, I think asking people to go to Cabo is enough. And I hate bridal showers also, um.. along with baby showers, bachelorette parties, ect.. Like Jenesis again, I dont mean to be negative, I'm just not into them.

I would be fine with not having one, but my Grandmother & Stepgrandmother have already started planning one for the family, and my friends are going to plan one as well. That said, they will both be ladies only. I feel a little uncomfortable about it given the expense that everyone coming is taking on, but I am just going to roll with it -- it's not exactly like I can say no!

Most of the time shower invites indicate what kind of shower it is - such as lingerie, kitchen, hour of the day, etc. If it doesn't it is safe to assume that you should purchase gifts from the registry (registry info is usually included in the invite). If you are close friends lingerie makes a nice gift as well.

Thanks ladies for all the advice on the shower. She is my very close friend and is in my wedding. I think I will get her a gift off the registry and some honeymoon gear! I am not really into showers either but we were in a sorority so you know how that goes, any reason to have one too many girls in a room. jiggy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
