you should have told me...i never knew...why did the hotel send them away? did they say? that is really strange for the hotel to do that...usually the receptionist at the hotel will try the room to get to the guest.

Oh you saw me get married-how fun! I am going to write a huge review. I haven't been a big poster but all of your posts have helped so much so I want to pay back.

To comment on your location choice, I would say Oceana is the way to go. I did see a reception at Cascade and it is right in the middle of things. I think Oceana was much more private and you felt like it was your own private party. Although you aren't near a main bar they set up a bar right there and honestly they will get you anything you want to drink so when we walked over they had margaritas, rum punch and cava all pre-made. My dad wanted wine on the table and he requested a specific house wine and they ran and got that so I don't think having a mini bar set up is a problem at all. Also, I didn't think it was dark at all but looking at the pictures with the chinese lanterns I would add those. The one thing about Oceana is our dance floor was a bit small. I felt they should have set up the music inbetween in palm trees.

And yes that was my rehersal dinner and how cool was thathuh.gif I highly recommend doing a dinner the night before if you can spring for it. I opted to spend the extra 22 per person on that instead of the lobster upgrade and it was well worth it. The decorations were adorable! Also, I had 60 guests and everyone wanted to eat in big groups and it gets complicated trying to book giant tables and the restaraunts so having a dinner set up for everyone was ideal. When the wedding came everyone knew everyone!

OK, I'll save the rest for my big review. Thanks for saying I looked beautiful. I felt beautfiul and that is all that matters, right? Just wait till you see my photos. I LOVED THEM!

Cheers,

Lee

Lisa!

Woot, I got to meet this girl, and she's such a sweetheart. I don't know where she went after she swam up to me while we were at the seaside grill (lol), but it was nice to meet a forum girl in person!

Lee, we got to Dreams on the day of your wedding. We missed your ceremony, but I saw your ceremony and was a total creep and snuck some pictures (which I can send to you, if you like - none of them are that great because we didn't want to get to close and intrude). Also, our room was right above the Oceana Terrace, so we got to watch your reception (again, like complete creeps!). Good music choices, btw... you had your guests partying their butts off!

Honestly, I didn't know about it until just a few weeks ago, but then I figured why bother. I thought it was really strange of the hotel and Epic- but, my parents are so laid back, they were just like "whatever" and waited for another shuttle. I'm not upset about it, because they aren't! But, yeah, I wish they would have told me sooner so I could have gotten to the bottom of it. Strange.

Sorry to hijack your thread!hijacked.gif

It was very nice to meet you as well. We were in that pool the rest of the week. Were you at the Oceana pool? I'm shocked I did not see you the rest of the days. My fiance kept saying where is that girl you know? lol he wanted friends to hang with:) But it was very nice to meet a forum girl as well. We spent every night except monday night at the lobby bar. And tuesday we went into town so we weren't at the pool.

My room was above Oceana as well and I was spying on their reception as well. I only took pictures of the set up process though. I saw the Mariachis lead them into Oceana and kept peeking out to watch. I was at the lobby bar at one point and even went back to the room when it was dark to get a peek. I feel like a stalker, HAHA... But it was nice to see one in person.

That is correct, we did not pay for the taxi. But it still took Dreams to try and coax three different taxi drivers to take us to the airport and charge them back. I'm glad that they did pay the taxi driver though. It all worked out both ways because we made it to the hotel and to the airport, it was just frustrating sitting by the curb at 5:40am and no one is showing up. For the wedding I am definately calling the day before to verify they are coming the next day!! That is great that they have a luxury van for us and it makes me feel better that they know we are arriving. Thanks again for all your assistance. You can't have the baby til after my wedding is over with(in case I need you again).

As for Juan, you are correct. When I met with him, he suggested to me to have it at Cascade. He did say he thinks it is more fun there. And he said the lighting is better for pictures too.

  • 6 months later...

I am so nervous I go for our site visit on Sunday and for budget issue we picked a hotel that was wallet friendly-yikes! Sounds like the transportation is crazy-would you recommend renting a car for a couple of days...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
