I submitted a request online and Vannessa got back to me within a day. I think it's great that they send you a questionare so they can work up a price proposal for you.  I am waiting to get mine back!  So far my experience with the Melia has been A++ compared to submitting a request through the RIU ( I have yet to hear back)

So i emailed her (Vanessa) once again and she finally got back to me and apologized for not responding to me and says she has been busy with the other weddings which she said shouldn't be an excuse. She emailed me my wedding spreadsheet as to what we have chosen so far and what the balance owing is left etc..  (the previous wedding coordinator Cecilia already gave me a copy but Vanessa changed the layout of it. She also changed the start time of my cocktails and reception and when I emailed her back asking about the change in time - she never responded and still hasn't. i've pretty much given up on communicating with her until my wedding comes a little bit closer. I miss Cecilia the other wedding coordinator she was so quick to respond to things and was always on top of everything. Hopefully Vanessa starts to respond.....

I think everything will work its way out.  It's a HUGE deal to us--well b/c we're the brides and freaking out b/c of the distance.  We can't just go run over to the site and discuss the details, right?!  But MCR has to deal with all the brides that are getting married next week or in 2 weeks.  Our time will come where it's 100% devoted to our wedding and all the details!

I just got my proposal--a little sticker shocked!  It is still super affordable, but everything adds up!  Eek!  I also thougth it would be super cool to have a bonfire with s'mores after the rehersal dinner, but it ended up being an extra $1,100!  I just couldn't do it!  But I am happy with the rest of the prices.  We want a ton of extras, so I guess we have to be willing to pay for them!  :-)

Where is your reception?  Ocean Terrace, Beach or Garden?  We are having it on the Ocean Terrace.  What do you think will be your favorite part at MCR?...besidse getting hitched--of course!

As far as Vanessa, when I met her on her first day at MCR, she was a pro--hit the ground running and has a lot of freelance experience.  She'll pull off the wedding for you!  Just breath and enjoy--it goes by so fast, we can't get crazy!  Easier said than done!  LOL!

Adios!  Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

I've been reading everyone's threads lately as I am also getting married at the Melia next May.  I had Cecilia as a wedding coordinator and to start off with and now have Vanessa.  I will say Vanessa hasn't been as timely with her emails as Cecilia but I've talked with Vanessa on the phone.  After reading your reply, I feel better about how my plans are progressing.  What I've noticed is that Vanessa does get back with me, its just not nearly as fast as Cecilia.  Nonetheless, I have full confidence in the Melia to make my wedding as special as possible.

I look forward to more threads!

Yeah, I am actually not too worried about her not responding to me yet as I understand that there are many weddings they have to deal with. I am sure everything will work in the end - I just think it sucks not hearing a response.

I, too was sticker shocked. I thought that having a destination wedding would be cheaper but its still pretty pricey. I am saving $ on doing real touch bouquets for myself and the bridesmaids vs real ones even though the tropical fairy tale package comes with a bouquet for myself and a bout for the groom, I am bringing my own centrepieces and chair sashes too. I am also not doing a set dinner rehearsal, we figured we would all just eat at one of the restaurants in the resort the evening of the rehearsal. $1100 for s'mores and bonfire? crazy! I thought $1300 that we are spending for a DJ was ridiculous!

We are having our wedding on the beach and the reception will be on the ocean terrace as well.

Take care!

I just received my proposal, sorry I cannot tell you a time frame because I had submmitted my questionnaire back when Cecilia was the wedding coordinator!  Its very detailed and easy to follow.  Vanessa did mention that the Melia is super busy with weddings over the next couple of months.  When did you send your questionnaire in?  As for the responses, it does take a little while, but I've had a couple of meetings with her on the phone (and we're talking like two hour meetings) and everything that I've emailed her was addressed in our meetings.  So, she does make a note of everything you email her, I just think she likes to address everything at one time.  I am sure she will respond to you soon!  Good luck with your wedding planning!

I sent my proposal info in at the end of August and I'm still waiting to here back, but I've correspondede with Vanessa since then.  I agree I think you just have to be patient because they're busy.  I did tell Vanesa that I won't send in the deposit until after I review the proposal though, did you girls do the same?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
