Rosie, we defintely need another reason to have one of those croissants. I've been thinking about it all morning actually. That place seriously is dangerously close to my house!!! I need to forget that it's there...but it's so hard...mmmmm...croissant!!

Regarding another meet up. Since the Fairmont was sold out last time, they've invited myself and a group max of 10 girls to have a little event at the Sky Bar with some appies and drinks. Sounds like a great place to get together again and have a chat. Afterwards, they would do a tour of the property so it would be best that people that come are actually wanting to view the property. They're thinking the first week in October. Would anyone be interested? It'll be a lot of fun :)

So nice to meet you all last night. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot!! Like I said, my boyfriend's in BIG trouble..haha.

Hi Ladies!! :)

The Fairmont Pacific Rim has been VERY busy lately and they've had a lot of sold out nights, which means we're unable to view the nice rooms. They're expecting a slow December so they've asked if I'd be ok doing something then.

I'm going to follow up with them when I return from Vacation on November 22nd, and set a solid date so I can post the information here and start to organize everything. If everyone can wait till then it will defintely be worth it :)

Hey :) I'm not a bride from Vancouver, but will soon be a Vancouver Bride :) My fiance and I elope there in less than a month! Well..techincally Coquitlam but definitely planning on checking out Vancouver :)

We're both pretty broke, but any suggestions of fun things to do in February in either Vancouver or Coquitlam?

Also...for any of you getting married before your DW, how much is typical to tip the Marriage Commissioner? I'm going to ask in the Etiquette portion also, but I guess you ladies will have a better idea of what's normal for BC :) I don't want to insult him, he's been so kind and accomodating for us :)

Welcome Little Princess!

Congratulations on your wedding!

What brought you to Coquitlam ?  Which venue are you getting married at?

Vancouver as many options in terms of free activities: Walking the Seawall, visiting Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown...You will find a lot of good restaurants and shopping too in Vancouver.

In the winter, you can also enjoy skiing.  If you can strech your budget, Whistler would be great too!

Some visitors like to enjoy a ride on the BC ferries.  All is depending of what you like and of course, your budget.

Coquitlam is more a suburb and has few parks but that's about it in terms of entertainment. I would'nt spend a lot of time there.

One of my favorite place, if you have the time and budget, would be a mini honeymoon in Tofino, Vancouver Island.

I am sure the other ladies here have other suggestions for you as well.

Thank you for your suggestions :)

Since my fiance and I are actually eloping (I'm on these boards using a fairly loose definition of "Destination Wedding"!!), we are getting married in the home of our marriage commissioner :) Which is why I consider him to be very accomodating and am so worried about tipping "wrong"!!

We'll be in the area for 8 days (we travel on the 9th, get married on the 10th, then leave on the 18th) so it should be a lovely little honeymoon :) We're staying in Coquitlam itself (his Mom got us discounted rates on our hotel and insists the Coquitlam one is better!), but I hear that Vancouver isn't very far away so we'll probably drive there for things to do. Skiiing is out of our budget I think, and I'd probably put myself in hospital trying. I'm not the most graceful of people :)

i went to chinatown, but that was before christmas, colours were dark and wasn't much selection. i was thinking to try again after chinese new year.

or checking out aberdeen or parker place in richmond.

i did find a seller on ebay selling them for $5 each, but i haven't ordered yet (they're away until feb 10) still looking at all my options because i don't need that many.

if you want 24 or more and willing to drive across the border to pick it up,  http://www.pioneergroup27.com/ has been recommended by lots of ladies here (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/56503/new-pashmina-order)  it's about $75 for 24 with shipping to Blaine, WA.

hope that helps  =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
