Barcelo Maya Palace-who is having a small wedding???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!! Ok, so I know there's already a thread about Barcelo Maya Palace brides..However, I seem to notice that everyone that has posted is having/have had a HUGE wedding (to me, huge in Mexico would be over 50people).

While I do enjoy reading reviews/expectations/plans for these (BIG THANKS to all of you who have provided info!!) , It sort of leaves me still full of questions. So who else out there is planning/has had a wedding at this resort that was small? For example- I'm looking at most likely less than 15people including bride and groom.

Look forward to your thoughts!!

I photographed a wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace, and I believe the guest list was under 40 guests, they had a simple sit down dinner then headed to the hotel bar for dancing and such. It worked out great, as I' am sure yours will as well.

Best of luck

Hi ya, no not really a reception. We are having one back home with all our friends and family so not to worried about one out there. We will have the blueberry dream package probably and after the cocktail hour we'll gonna try and get booked into one of the al a cartes and then head to a bar for a few. I'm sure there will be a good atmosphere with my girlies with me... then the party will be back home :o) Whats everyone else planning?

Hi Ya'll. I just got back this morning from my wedding at the palace on May 29th. We had 22 total including B&G. Don't worry at all about having a small group, I think in the end, it is better...I'll post a review soon, but will give a few details here. With a small group, we were able to visit with everyone during their stay and still have time to enjoy ourselves. We were able to have a welcome dinner in the French Restaurant on Friday where we handed out OOT bags and visited with each guest about the details of the next day. For the wedding, We chose the Mint Breeze package. I'm so glad we went that route. I saw several receptions on the beach the week we were there, and they are beautiful, but there are always people walking by and making comments. It was humid and windy the night of our wedding and the bugs were terrible during our stay, ie: mosquitoes...I was covered in bites!!!! I was so relieved to be able to sit down in the cool air conditioning and enjoy my meal without slapping off mosquitoes the whole evening, not to mention, I was sweltering in that dress and after all our photos could not wait to get back inside....Our reception was in Tule 3 banquet room of the Palace. We had one long rectangular table which sat everyone. The room did not look bare or sparse, there was plenty of space for dancing. The meal lasted almost 2 hours (we had a very chatty group) which left only one hour for dancing. This was fine, though, not everyone wanted to get up and dance..We did the cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss/garter toss and did a bit more dancing. When Victoria asked if we wanted to extend the reception, we chose not to and instead everyone went upstairs to the Carey (lobby) bar and continued to drink and visit. It was an amazing event and everyone continued to comment on the genuine emotion felt during the ceremony and how fun the day was. You knew that everyone at the wedding was there for you out of true love and support! Please do not worry about having a small group, in the end, the day is what you make it and the Barcelo will do their best to make your day special, no matter the size of the party:) I'll post a complete review later...But hope this helps!wink.gif

thanks everyone, I feel a little better now! I dont think we will go with a complete 'reception' after the ceremony. We too are having a huge at home reception upon our return, so that will be the big party. I'm thinking we'll do a dinner, but inbetween dinner and the ceremony, I'm sure time will be occupied with pictures/general visiting/drinks at the bar. I just want an overall casual relaxed atmosphere, after all - that is the whole reason we're going to an all inclusive!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
