Hello everyone! I'm having such a great time going through the forums learning and getting ideas from everyone's fabulous destination wedding. So THANK YOU!!!

Okay...so I got engaged on New Years Day this year and will hopefully get married in May/June 2011. We've been struggling with family on whether we're having a destination wedding or not. It's been a back and forth and *fingers crossed* we will be able to move forward with a DW.

We are considering either Hawaii (Oahu) or Cabo for our DW. There are pros and cons to each of those places. For example, I know Hawaii will be super expensive so I would really need to research and budget. We recently bought a new home so we are on a bit of a budget. We are thinking about only 20-30 people will be able to attend so maybe renting a vacation home or villa and having the reception dinner there. I figured that would save $$ and we can all share accomdations since it will only be family and bridal party. As for the ceremony my FI is Catholicso it will need to be in a Catholic Church. I've reserched and there are catholic churches in each place.

If anyone has any tips, suggestions, or experience they like to share I would greatly appreicate it!!

OH...another thing we will be paying for our grandparents, parents, and my younger brother (flight and stay) so that's why we will be on a TIGHT BUDGET! Is this doable?? We are pretty causal so no need for formalities.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
