They say that the prices go up next year, and I hope this is true, because if not, I'm sure our guests won't want to book in our room block when it's cheaper online!
Mexb- Does it matter if they book through you or through your room block?? I would think they should be happy so long as they stay at the hotel right? If they didn't give you rates as competitive as they are offering, that's their fault! :)

We did site visits to Ceiba del Mar and Le Reve (as well as La Amada and Blue Tulum) earlier this month. Ceiba and Le Reve were our finalists. Both are incredible, and it was tough deciding. In the end, we booked Ceiba del Mar for our wedding next April. I will post a separate, more detailed review later. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email/ask!

Hi! That will be a perfect group! The entire place will be your wedding, so you will feel like you rented a villa! Have you been in touch with Arlenis, the WC? She is WONDERFUL! Be sure to give her a heads-up of when you are planning on visiting, so she can let you know whether there are rooms available. (The place was full 2 of the 3 nights we went to visit the various resorts, but we were lucky that the night we wanted to stay there they had a room open.) I wrote a separate review on here "Site Visit - Ceiba Del Mar, Hotel Le Reve, La Amada, Blue Tulum" that has more info. Let me know if you have any more questions after you read that (although this thread is very helpful too). We were back and forth between Ceiba and Le Reve, but ultimately decided on Ceiba because we will likely have more than 50 guests. The food at Le Reve is DELICIOUS and very authentic!

Good Luck!

You can see my site visit thread (link below in my signature). There are lots of pics !

Also know that they are very flexible on the food. We ended up with a very customized menu wink.gif

I have a question for the brides that have visited La Ceiba or held their wedding there: What is Puerto Morelos like?  What is the atmosphere of the hotel like?  Do you think that a group of  wedding guests in their late 20's-early 30's would get bored at the resort and not being close to PDC?

Thanks!

Hi Playaboda,

Puerto Morelos is a very cute little Mexican town. It is very authentic/local with a few restaurants on the water, taco shops, a dive/scuba shop and a bar or two. It is definitely sleepy -- I think more of a place you go during the day and for dinner (but there isn't a night life that I am aware of).   How many people are going to your wedding?  It totally depends on your group, but for me, I think my group will have fun anywhere as long as their are good people, music and cocktails!  My group is sort of over the bar scene (we are all about 30-31) --so I wasn't too concerned about not being in playa. We might decide to plan one night in Playa for dinner and drinks after. Its only about a 25 minute drive- so maybe rent a shuttle bus for everyone.

There is definitely a lot more going on in Playa Del Carmen though- if that is what you are looking for. However, keep in mind, the beach is not as nice.

let me know if you have other questions.

Ceiba del Mar is a perfect hotel for your group, we have worked there a lot of weddings and everybody love it!

And we also have Le Reve that is a so beatifull hotel! If you want next to Playa, it is really the best option for you.

Tracy,

The reviews of your scouting trip have been super helpful! It seems we are looking for many of the same things as you were, so I am curious if there were any other places you came across during your research that you would recommend checking out? We're planning a site visit next weekend to Ceiba del Mar and Le Reve and want a few more spots to add to our list!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
