Scouting Trip - Ceiba Del Mar, Azul Beach, and Le Reve

Recommended Posts

Hi Jen!! I wish i could help you more. We were very focused on finding a resort that was not a really big all inclusive--so that eliminates most of the hotels unfortunately!  We were pretty suprised to be honest.  We also looked at El Dorado Maroma which was beautiful, but we think it might be a better honeymoon spot (too quiet for our group) and also a bit on the more expensive side. Azul Beach was reallly nice too--i definitely recommend checking that out.  I think there are some in Tulum as well, but we decided that was too far for our group--since most people are trecking from California (7 hour non-direct flight to Cancun).

I also looked at Azul which is a Karisma hotel but the grounds and rooms can't comapre to Ceiba del Mar.  There aren't too many small resorts that I found.  Maroma I heard is gorgeous but a bit too high for what I thought my guests would be willing to pay.  Good luck with your site visits.  Are you planning on meeting with any vendors when your go down?  I did however it was a bit premature because I really didn't know what I wanted for flowers or anything at that point.  Post your opinion when you get back.

Iâ€m planning my wedding hopefully for January 2012 and  it will be in playa del Carmen surroundings, I was thinking about LeReve, can someone share an experience? I'm new in the forum, but for now I want to share my experience hope it helps :), Iâ€m just returning from my sisterâ€s wedding in a beautiful beach at Mayan Riviera near Playa del Carmen, it was incredible beautiful but the most important thing for her was the wedding decoration because she loves natural flowers and I need to say the floral decoration was amazing, my sister and I went down in a site visit last year to help her to chose the perfect wedding location, ones in town we met a French Florist, his name is Cyrille Ribet, his e-mail address is driada@floreriadriada.com, he showed us a little of his job and we loved it, he did events in different countries around the world, he is events planner, that is why he knew what we were looking for, but no one of the pictures can show his true job, ones you see it a live is much better.  We walked around playa del Carmen looking for a cheap flower shop and we gladly found out he is one of the cheapest, good job-good price from my sisterâ€s bouquet until the wedding reception dinner.

We are planning to get married in the "Carribean area" (haven't decided yet where) but I was looking at Azul Beach, looks great but some REALLY BAD reviews on Tripadvisor.com about them moving people to another resort at the last minute. Do you know anything about that, would you recommend that resort based on what you saw?

We won't have time/money for a trip to scout places, so any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks R

Hi!  We just got back from our wedding in the Riviera Maya at Ceiba del Mar.  I will definitely post a very detailed review, but it was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!  Ceiba del Mar is the most beautiful place, the staff is incredible, the food is delicious, every detail is thought out.  My guests were blown away with how wonderful everything was there.  AND, we were thrilled with our vendors - Gabi at Planner1Events, Ivan at DJ Doremixx, Pam at BeautyWeddings, Javier who played guitar at the ceremony, our mariachi, etc.  It was perfect! ;)  You should DEFINITELY consider Ceiba!

Tracy thanks for the review! I did a site visit and loved Ceiba but thought it might be too quiet for my group.  The hotels I ended up seeing on my site visit isn't the one that we ended up choosing which was Azul Beach.  Thanks for the pics because since I haven't seen it it was nice to get a brides perspective.  We are getting married 4/7/12 and don't think we will be going back down again to check out the hotel.  I was a little skeptical but alot of people pick a hotel and hope for the best. =)

You are going to LOVE Arlenis!  Lots of luck and happy planning.  If you have an vendor questions once you start that part of the planning, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi BooBoo,

Can you please let us know about your thoughts of Le Reve? I just recently got engaged and we would love to have a nice private wedding with the view of the beach but for a 100 people!!. The prob is that we don't want massive hotels because we won't be able to fill them and won't be private!. I hope you can share your experience!! Would be deeply appreciated!!!..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
