Booking ends tonight @ midnight....

and this is the exact reason I didn't want to do the group booking. I already know how my folks are and they are not the type to do things on time...always last minute. So they get what they can get and if they are late...see ya when I get back. lol

Its so upsetting. His own sister didnt book. My bff didnt book. and we are left to pay penalties on 4 empty rooms.

my future MIL was so kind and is giving us $1500 because she didnt want us to start our marriage in debt because of our wedding *tears!*

but that bums be out too because I would rather save that gift $ and put it towards fixing the house when we buy one.

uugggghhhhhhh.

REMINDER: All that matters is that he and I are there! And our close families!!!

So sorry to hear that people didn't book and you had to pay the penalties for extra rooms that weren't booked. You're right though only you 2 really matter and it's very nice that she chipped in the money for you. I definitely am shying away from doing a room block.

Betty - I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with friends and family not booking. I think most of us destination brides have experienced disappointment in that way. It looks like we will just be missing each other at the resort. I'm leaving on July 17th and you'll probably be arriving soon after! I hope you have a beautiful wedding!

I don't know how much your room penalties are...but for our group, we basically had people who 'verbally commited' and if they backed out, we told them they owed up the penalty. It's not fair to us that they said they were going to come, then back out, and we get fined for it. None of them complained about having to pay the penalty fee either, at least not to our face. So maybe you could try that? It's a lot cheaper than the amount they'd end up spending to go to the wedding, and maybe they would feel the pressure to just pay more money and COME TO YOUR WEDDING!! It's a fantastic vacation, why would anyone say no?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
