Photo's Before the Ceremony?

Recommended Posts

Our ceremony is at 3 so we can do our pictures with family and ours with the sunset.  We thought about doing the pictures beforehand but thought it would be really nice to have some sunset shots with just us.

My FI and I are going to do most of the photos the day before the ceremony. I am a photographer and can't imagine being able to get everything I want done while having my family wait. I just don't want to miss anything. Also we are having our wedding at a Villa that is about a 20 min drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta and I really want some shots around downtown. I am going to do my trail run for my hair and makeup early in the morning the day before so we have tons of time.

At first our ceremony was scheduled to close to the sunset time so we wouldn't have been able to do many pictures, but we did change out ceremony time so we will have lots of time to do pictures after, which I really didn't want to see FI until the wedding, but I guess it all depends on how you feel about it:)

I would push the wedding to be earlier. I know the sunset ceremony will be beautiful, but I think having great pictures are more important. Also, as many other people have said, you don't want to see your FI until you are walking down the aisle :)

I personally LOVE reveals!!!

they are such a personal moment. no one else sees you before the wedding so you still feel giddy and excited walking down the aisle, you just don't have to share the moment with hundreds of other people - just you, your husband to be, and your photog! love love them.

Our ceremony is at 4pm, and we are doing pictures before.  I was very open to either option. After our photographer explained the "First Glance" photoshoot, I fell in love with the idea.  There is something so special about capturing those special moments with just the two of you (and the photog).  Plus, you can talk through some of those pre-ceremony jitters.  :)

i really like the idea of a private reveal and then having photos with the family before. I think this can really help out, especially if you want a sunset wedding like I do. I never thought about this but it makes perfectly good sense. thanks for the advice, I will be using it :)

We just got married on March 31st and didn't see eachother before the ceremony.  I can't imagine doing in any other way.  It was such a special moment and even our guests got all teary and emotional.  I guess it all depends on your own personal preference :)

We got married at 3PM and had plenty of time for pictures until our 7PM reception, and even had time to stop by our cocktail hour.

i love the idea of the 'reveal' walking down the aisle...my fiance and i are very emotional people so the mere thought of that 'moment' is enough to make me want to experience it fully...so, we'll depart the night before and not see each other again until i walk down the aisle...  happy planning, all!!!  R~

I have to agree with the reveal right before you walk down the aisle.  That moment is very special.  The first glance shots could be special too though.  My fiance and I, although we live together and by the time we get married will be together 4 years, HE insisted on us departing the night before.  LOL!  I felt the same way but I think it's cute that he wants to.  I guess it doesn't matter what your preference is....as long as you know you will be marrying your honey.....that is all that counts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
