I'm a little overwhelmed and a little frustrated bc my TA fromt here never once mentioned about being charged a deposit to hold a certain number of rooms for that rate.

Any Advice?

My set up included me paying the deposit as well if my guests did not book within 30 days of setting up the site.  I pushed everyone that was important to me to get their reservations and deposits in before the 30 days was up and any rooms I had left over in my block, I cancelled so I wouldn't have to fund the deposit.  Now any additional guests can still book a trip at the group rates but I don't have to fund their deposit.  As long as you have the minimum amount booked within the 30 days, your all good and just release the extras.  I think my minimum number was 10 rooms.

Thanks for clearing that up!! I was not happy when I received the package. If she had said up front - this is how it works on the room rates- then I would have been okay. We're going with 10 minimum as well to lock in our super great rates. I agree about adding on after the min is met. I've been calling close family and friends to get their dep in. smile43.gif

I wanted to have someone to be the person my guests can ask questions. I am only expecting about 10 rooms. I think so far I feel swayed to only go with the two or three resorts. I dont like feeling Im out on my own or doing all the work and I might be thinking about switching coordinators. I guess Im only a few weeks in so dont know if its too early to judge...

Update - I've contacted DW and they are doing research and going to work with me on settling this right now a year later.  This shows character with the company.  After discussion, we both realized it fell through the cracks on both ends (theirs for not contacting me and mine for not following up with them).  Working with me this late in the game shows they are a dedicated company and my original impression was wrong.

I wish I would of read all this before buying my save the dates with the DW website printed on them.....Our TA from DW never mentioned anything about a deposit.  Now we are expected to give 5k within 30 days, and our wedding is over a year from now.  We received quotes from the resort we are using, and sent that to the TA.  She is still trying to charge us over $60/day for our group quote.  This is due to charges of insurance etc.  If I send these STD's out the first thing people are going to do is look at the resort and see what the normal price is, and they will see the TA overcharging us and won't book through her.  Personally I wouldn't blame them.  We are waiting for update hopefully better pricing.  I will admit at first our TA was very responsive and gave great info on many different options, but that doesn't mean my guests should spend $200 more for booking through them....Just frustrated and wanted to know if anyone else has had similar situations?

I recently changed from dw.com because my TA took 5 months to get me a quote. The initial quote was a great price but the travel agency that my dw specialist was working with wouldn't give us the price anymore after a week for some reason. It took them about 3 months to finally come to a decision. the decision consisted of my guests having to have the $200 downpayment or the price would increase by another 200 dollars. I eventually got fed up with all the running around and decided to go with someone locally. It was such a headache with them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
