i canceled my wedding through them and decided to cut my losses which were the guest deposits.  dw decided to keep my deposit - all of it, including my guests' deposits.  my deposit was supposed to cover the guests and then some.  when i canceled prior to the cancellation period, they still refused to give me my money back.  i would warn any bride to stay away from dw.

I just booked with them :(

What kind of problems did you have?  I found that I had to do a lot of the legwork when it came to pricing.  They kept quoting higher prices, but when I showed them a lower one, they matched it.

I am getting married in 4 weeks and have been working with Christine Kennedy with DW.com and she is GREAT! She is very on top of things and has helped me get through some crazy times with family drama and with choosing a resort.

I think it really depends on what coordinator you work with. When I first signed up with DW.com in March 2011, I was paired with a planner that I did not care for, so I asked to switch. Couldnt be happier now! It's like with any company, there are always going to be some employees that either dont align with your work ethic or you just dont get along with. Dont be nervous about working with DW.com, just make sure you are comfortable and like your TA.

I began working with a DW Travel Agent a couple of months ago. He had to send me the group contract 3 times as the first time he gave me dates for the wrong month, then one of the rooms were duplicated. Now he's telling me the deposit is $100 per person when he told me it was $200 per room before. Has anyone had this same trouble? My guests are going to be very upset if I change prices on them! sad.gif

Hello,

I know it's been about a year since anyone has posted anything on this board.  I'm too took the bate and booked our resort and wedding through DW.com.  I was assigned to Camille.  She started off really good....gave us so much information and options that fitted our budget and desires of how we wanted our wedding to be.  And she was pretty quick to respond to my emails and phone calls.

This was back in Dec of last year.  It's now April and 6 months away from our wedding.  I've notice that she TAKES FOREVER to respond to any of my emails.  Super frustrating!  I had 2 guests complain about her lack of quick response as well.  But so far, that is the worst.

I to wish I would of read this thread before booking with the company.  But like I mentioned, the worst is her lagging on emails.  It seems though that I get through to her pretty quick over the phone.  I kind of wish though that I would have research a bit more on other TA and perhaps the resort itself.  I heard some mention that they probably could have contacted the resort themselves and gotten the same kinds of deals, etc.  I'm hoping this is the worst that it gets for me.

Overall, as of now, I would give Camille a B+.  She did mention all the facts before booking.....meaning I knew all about the $200 deposit per room and since we were reserving 20 rooms, that would be $4K.  And she informed me that we had 30 days to get as many rooms booked in order to get deductions from our $4K deposit.  We were luck to get 10 rooms booked in 30 days.  Therefore, we had to pay $2K.

According to Camille, we should be getting this deposit back once our wedding is over, which will help with paying wedding bills put on our CC.  SOOOOOOOOOOO, my questions to the brides out there that have already had their wedding, did u get your deposit back???  If yes, how long after your wedding did you receive your $$$?  My FI and I are soo worried that we're not ganna get it back.  But that's just us being scared =/

We put down the deposit on the majority of our guests rooms $1,600. after the guests booked their rooms she took the $1,600 off the price of our room.  So the deposit we put down went towards our own room cost.

Our package price include a transfer to and from the airport for the resort we choose.  However my husband and I stayed at a different resort for our honeymoon and we booked transfer from that resort to the airport.  It was supposed to be a private transfer and we paid $100.  She quoted us $50 for a shared transfered but we went with a private transfer.  it was not a private transfer and I emailed her about this and she said she would refund us and never did..... You are better off catching a cab.  DO NOT book a transfer through this company it is a rip off, this company does not refund money to you...... insist on your money back as soon as your deposits have been put down or you will never see that money again.....

Thank-you for this info.  We are staying at the same resort as our guests and we are having the wedding there too.  So the only transferring we'll be doing is to and from airport to our 1 resort.  I hope that goes smoothly for us and our guest.

I think, like I mentioned before, that our biggest fear is not getting that $2k deposit back once the wedding is over.  Good thing you did not have that worry.  If any other bride out there had no trouble (or lots of trouble) with getting your deposit back, I'd like to know how that went for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
