Hello all,

I recently got engaged (March 2010) and we are hoping to have the ceremony in fall 2011 in one of these three locations: Turks and Caicos, Aruba, or Riviera Maya.

Has anyone used or currently using "destinationweddings.com" to assist in planning your special day? I'm looking for feedback/reviews/testimonials not located on their website.

I'll appreciate any information you may have for these planners as well as any other destination wedding planners.

Kelley

They cannot provide much more than you can find yourself on tripadvisor and booking your own trip via expedia or another travel site. I did use one of their TAs and they were nothing but a quote mill for me and a headache. That is just my personal experience.

I am actually using them right now for my wedding in January. I find that they are very helpful and can in some instances get discounted group rates. I do think they are a little biased towards certain resorts but if one of those resorts is where you want to go, then you can get a great deal.

I am getting married at El Dorado Royale and would not have looked at this option had it not been for the help of DW. I thought it was out of my price range until I saw the group rates and the various deals for the bridge and groom.

If you have lots of time and can do all the research yourself, then your probably fine on your own - but it saved me time by having help from someone who listened to what was important to me and provided a list of resorts that had those options.

Good luck!!

Thank you, I found it. Along with the "avoid luxe..." thread. This whole process is slightly overwhelming. So to answer your question/respond to your statement, we are still deciding on what we're looking for. But hopefully we'll have a location and top resorts selected by July.

Congratulations! Welcome to the forum! I personally looked into them, but changed my mind after I realized I could do most of the research myself and use a local TA to assist with my booking. Good Luck & Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
