MakeUp Help!! ... How to make it last??

Recommended Posts

Hello girls,

Any of you ladies have makeup tips for a beach wedding?

Planning to have the spa do my makeup, but just in case am going to bring my own makeup in case I need to wipe it clean and start over (worse case scenario).

Any particular brands that you would recommend?

Thanks so much!

Joanne

There's a lot of makeup tips and a whole thread on products in the Beauty section. However, I was at Sephora today, and noticed a new product. I can't remember the name, but it was a light mist that you spray on your makeup when it's done, to make it last. You may want to look into that!

I swear by Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion! Use it before you apply eyeshadow and no matter what brand of shadow you use (drugstore - expensive) it stays all day! And I like Smashbox's foundation primers.

Everyone has their own opinion on what works and usually different products work for differently on each person. Go to Sephora and MAC and have some makeovers done! It's fun, but be careful, makeup purchases become addictive ;-)

Whatever you do you have to use a primer as base....on everything. I suggest a face primer, eye primer, primer for your lashes and your lips. For your face, MAC has a Prep+Prime Skin, but I just saw that they also carry one with SPF 50 -- very necessary if you're marrying outdoors. Prep+Prime Eye and Prep+Prime Lash for your eyes and lashes -- but any of the dual mascaras that you can buy in the drugstore can do! Though they carry Prime+Prep for lips, I prefer using a neutral lip pencil color to cover the entire lip before applying your lipstick or gloss -- it does wonders!. I've never used the midst the ladies have suggested, but I've read that it definitely seals the deal.

If you buy $50 worth of makeup at MAC they'll do your trial for free. I say try it out when the counter opens and see what your face looks like by 5.

I wholeheartedly agree with the ladies that have suggested to use a good primer as a base. I will be using a mineral powder foundation as opposed to a liquid foundation just because I like the lightness of a powder, especially out in the sun. Go to Sephora and see whats available. My fave is bare minerals, but there are lots out there!

I just got the Smashbox Bronzing Primer and it's great. Give you a glow but then keeps your makeup great all day! Definitely check out Urban Decay's Eye Potion Primer...it's amazing! The girls at Sephora recommended the Makeup Forever HD foundation as well. I'll be using these products for my wedding!

I think you need to get the primer for sure.

Ive read on here not to use bare minerals something in the photography makes you look very washed out great for wearing but NOT if you have photos done.

Im going to see if i can get a makeover at the mac counter next week at the airport as i fly out to Greece for a holiday and to check out our wedding venue.

That way i can try it and then if i like it i can buy it tax free when i fly out for our wedding

You need more makeup on your wedding day and i would deffo say mac false eyelashes xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
