My ROR Review and a few pics

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Here is my review and if you have any questions at all feel free to PM me and I will answer them to the best of my ability!

RIU Ocho RIOS

I must first say that the entrance to the resort is something out of a magazine...the drive was lined with towering palm trees, it was just beautiful. Upon pulling up to the lobby, all you can see is the turquoise ocean, it was like "Hello...Welcome to Paradse!"

The hotel staff was amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were well taken care of. We arrived on May 11th around 1230pm. We were under the impression that we would have to wait to check in at 3, but our room was indeed ready and we checked in immediately. We were also greeted with delicious rum punch in the lobby.

We were upgraded to a HUGE suite with an ocean front room. Our balcony overlooked the gazebo where our ceremony was held. It was amazing. The room smelt a little musty but it wasnt anything too bad. However, if you like using the stairs, use them. The elevators are very very hot and smelly, there isnt any ventilation so the must smell is strong.

The food was just excellent. We did not want to get up at 630 am to wait in line for the gourmet restaurants to make reservations. So we dined at the buffet every night. Also, they do have different selections night by night and it is a beautiful restaurant.

The entertainment was every night and it was great. There was dancing, comedy, and different acts that went on through out the week. There was always a big crowd, so go early to get a good seat!

Our wedding

We met with Roxy the second day there and she was fabulous. We went over everything that I had in mind, and believe me, she worked her magic. Everything I had envisioned she put together, it was like she was in my head lol. Seriously, she did a fantastic job. I brought my own decorations to save money, and it looked beautiful. I also did the steel drum band and that was so worth it, it really made the wedding that much better.

The ceremony was beautiful but it went by way to fast. My advice is to have someone record it, weather it be professional or just a family member. You are going to want to see it!!! Im glad I did!

I had a professional photographer named Phillip and he was a blast. He took some really good shots of us. I highly recommend him

Our dinner was at Mammee Bay Steakhouse. The food was excellent. Our waiter Barris, was just awesome. He treated us like we were the only guests in the entire hotel. The cake on the other had was just ok. It tasted as if it were in the freezer for a while...yuck..but the frosting was good lol!

I decided to go with the after dinner reception on the beach at the Seagrape bar. We rented the dj equipment and I brought my own music, and that went very smoothly. It was so perfect, I mean we were dancing to our first song underneath the stars and the moon on the beach in Jamaica. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for us.

Other stuff and closing

We also swam with the dolphins at dolphin cove, shopped in downtown Ocho Rios, and did Chukka Caribe Zip line and river tubing. Everything was so worth it.

I have to say that every single penny that we spent was worth it and more. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It went by way to fast , so enjoy ever moment.

I would recommend the ROR to everyone! We are already planning a return for our 1 yr anniversary!!

I asked at the front desk and I asked Chandlyn when I had my meeting with her. I was upgraded to the next category room for free. It is also based upon availability. I went during the off season, there was not that many people there. So just speak to the girls, Im sure you will because they upgrade a lot of brides

Thanks for the compliments!!!! The flowers are real touch. I tried to spend money on things that I would get the most out of. I went for the real touch only because they matched perfectly, and I could not see spending money on flowers I could not take home. Plus I did not like the choices offered for the free flowers because nothing really matched my colors and you only get a few choices. I would highly recommend real touch flowers because at least you can keep them forever! I got a lot of compliments on them and they photographed very well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
