Mexico or Jamaica? Destination Wedding 3-11-11

Hello, we're starting our research now. We know Jamaica is great as we've been there before. We also know Mexico is cheaper but also has more restrictions (bloodwork, days before, etc..). Can anyone recommend some great all-inclusives in Mexico and/or Jamaica? Earlier this year I was looking into Iberostar Suites and Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica and a few in Mexico. What are your thoughts?

Also, price is a huge factor. We plan to have no more than 20 guests as well. Looking for a great wedding package.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I honestly cannot help you choose a destination because I am still on the fence about mine. But there are two very good threads going one on Mexico and the other on Jamaica, so you can find out a lot of information about both destinations on these threads. Good luck and happy planning

I am torn as well. I am looking into Moon Palace Resorts in Mexico (leaning towards) and Secrets in Jamaica. Moon Palace does offer a free dinner if you have 20 rooms books or a free cocktail hour with 10 rooms booked. I would love to have many guests so I think I can qualify for the free private events (many) for 25 rooms. This will help with cost because I won't have to worry about paying $75 per extra person and I can invite who I want. Jamaica Secrets is soo my style. I love it! There are a few hiccups I see in reviews but I am sure it will be okay by March 2011.

Congrats and Welcome! I of course am partial to Jamaica - it's my favorite island - period. But I'm not doing all inclusive - we're doing private villas. So can't help you there. But things to consider that might help others help you - what are you looking for? what type of people are your guests? adventurous or will they stay at the resort? couples? older folks? children? What's your price point? Do you want to get married on the beach, etc?

Scour the subforums for each and get to googling! Trip Advisor is great also if you're trying to get an "inside scoop" on particular resorts.

Good Luck!!!

Hi there and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I can't help you with either choice but Aisha is right I think if you check out the respective threads the Jamaica Brides or Mexico brides will be able to help you compile a list of pros and cons and narrow your decision. Also try using the search engine as many brides have contemplated this question before and it help you find answers from past brides. Good luck and happy planning!

Great wedding date!! That was the date I was shooting for, but ours will probably end up being in May. I don't know anything about Jamaica, but you should check into the Palace resorts in Mexico. They have them in multiple cities in Mexico. There are a lot of RIu Ocho Rios(ROR) brides on here, so you might want to look into that resort also. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
