i actually make this mixture of chili poweder, salt, with some lemon lime and dip pineapple or sour plums in it...i thought it was an asian thing because in vietnam they eat pineapples and guavas like that but when i was in mexico they have something similiar.
My co-worker from India does something very similar as well
There is something like the sour plums, but they are apricots. The concoction is called "Chamoy".
