Any Gran Bahia Principe brides out there?

Recommended Posts

We've got a lot of things started, which is good.

We actually just booked our photographer today! YAY! We're going with Sungold and we're really excited. Photography is one of the things I'm willing to splurge on and we'll be paying $2400 for 8 hours, all our own images, plus a trash the dress the next day. We're using one of their associates though, we'd love to use them but their rate is an additional $1000.

Last night we finally settled on colours as well. We're going with Aqua & Latte with a Pomegrante (Pinky-Red) colour as accents. It's what I initially was going for and Kai finally agreed. Yay!

Otherwise, right now we're finishing up our guest list and starting to collect addresses. :)

Wahooo...exciting about getting your photographer..and at a good rate! We are meeting with the one we love on July 5th so hopefully everything goes smoothly with that so it will another worry gone! Is $2400 everything or do you also have to pay for their accomodations? I am hoping we also get a good rate!

I am putting together and order for Friday as we are going to order our mugs and get that done with. I am also going shopping this weekend to hopefully find wedding shoes...I have been busy looking but havent found anything nice and comfortable yet. We are getting the rest of the bridesmaid dresses also on July 5th when I go back home.

I am thinking of ordering the chair sashes like I said but am scared that it wont be the right colour...although my fiance Mike said no big deal...haha.

It seems like its now the lul before things start to get crazy so I am also doing some DIY projects. There are so many cool ones on here, but I am waiting until I get the 150 posts....Are you doing OOT bags?

Hi Ladies!!!! Congrats on picking Gran Bahia Principe! I am a future GBP bride too :) I've been MIA lately (big move, no internet for 3 weeks!) but I'm trying to get my paperwork in to reserve my date. We are aiming for July 23, 2011.

I'm so impressed with how much stuff you girls have completed already!! Way to go!

I saw someone ask about photographers being let onto the resort- GBP doesn't charge any fees for outside vendors which is AWESOME. We are thinking of bringing our own photographer down too. I'm hoping that for the same price to bring one-even two photographers down and pay for their trips, it would be the same price as paying for someone to do 8 hrs of photography, and then I would have them for several days! All I want from them is a disk of edited photos from the time they are there so hopefully I can find someone willing to work with me in exchange for a trip to Jamaica :) We'll see...

I htink the only decision I've made so far is that I have my dress (I got engaged Oct 28 and had my dress by thanksgiving haha) And I've picked my colors...bright pink, a dark eggplant-ish purple, and a light color, prob a cream, or off-white as well. Have either of you checked out vistaprint.com? They have amazingly cheap and usually free stuff that you can get custom printed. Just sign up for their emails and they will instantly start sending you free offers. The hint is to click on an offer, create it and then go back to the email an click on it again...that way you can make x amount of whatever you are custom printing, and pay for shipping once. They try to get you to buy more quantities at a 'discounted' price, but if you are willing to spend the time to do each item individually, you can get it all free!

What time did you put down for your wedding? That is the only thing that we are hung up on right now... I'm worried about later in the afternoon bc of rain, but I dont want it to be super hot either. I guess either way its going to be hot but I as wondering what you ladies thought?

Ok enough for now...off to check the other GBP thread!!! :)

Welcome...its exciting to have another Bahia bride out there,

Our ceremony is at 4pm which we felt would be a good time as it wont be too hot and you still have time for pics before the sunsets...but lately I have been wondering if I should switch it to 3 or 330 so we have more time for pics. How long are you alloting for pic taking? We were gonna get married at 4 and have dinner at 630pm?

Kate - Sungold is actually based down in Jamaica so we won't be able to meet with them before hand. It kind of sucks, but means we don't have to worry about bringing someone down with us. It's $2400 for everything, and we get a disc of all our images after :)

We are planning on doing OOT bags, but we haven't really started yet. I'm thinking near the end of summer there will be A LOT of deals for summerish stuff to take advantage of. I'm also a graphic designer so I'm doing a lot of the print stuff myself, which saves us a lot of money.

Mekanabr - Yah, one of the big reason we went with them was because they allowed outside photographers! It's a huge deal to me and I don't want to leave it to someone THEY choose and then overcharges us for poor pictures.

I have an idea about my dress but that's about it. I've tried 2 on with my sister just for fun and loved one... I'll probably end up going back to it, but we'll see.

Oh and for time, we're getting married at 4. Late enough for it to cool down a bit and early enough so supper doesn't run too late.

Hmm a 4pm wedding is sounding more tempting! Thanks for the info ladies. Does anyone know how long the dinner lasts? I'm worried that its going to take forever and since we aren't doing the private dinner, I want to eat and then get out to the gazebo and have our reception!!! :) I asked Beverly about renting it for more than the 2 hrs she quoted us and said we can't go any later, but I'm waiting to hear back if we can start earlier out there...so we'll see.

I can't wait to start our OOT bags...I think save the dates need to go out first though! :) Have a great weekend girls!!

Mekanabr,

I'm getting married at 1pm....I wanted 2pm (really so that people had enough time to get up, but not drink too much), but there was another wedding booked for 4:30, so Beverly asked me to do it at 1....its gonna be hot!! but super pretty!!! cheesy.gif

Yep, you can have your reception at the gazebo, dancing, dj, bar..the whole deal. You rent it from 8:30 to 10:30 after your dinner in one of the restaurants. It is $500 to rent it for two hours, including DJ. If you want a bar its $15 per person/ per hour. Other brides have said its quite a haul from the other bars to the gazebo so the bar is kind've a necessity. I'm planning on having my reception there, its going to be amazing!!! :)

thanks for getting back to me...this is a definite option that I never knew about. I feel like I dont know a lot of things. Right now all we have is a list of excusrions and a list of the packages and prices. I havent even emailed her with the package we want etc and she said we cant pick our restaurant until 2 weeks before we depart.

Is there anything else you girls know that I am missing...lol

Oh - an we applied for our long form birth certificates which you need to get married in Jamaica and they only took like a month to come in. We did it early as we thought it would take forever...seems like its a good time to do it now if you havent already!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
