How much Luggage?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering how much luggage you guys are taking? I saw a few threads that people had 6 suitcases and I couldn't even think of what I would put in 6 suitcases.

Please let me know if I am completely forget items that should be going with me on a 8 day trip. Are you traveling with any decorations or shipping them prior?

Thnx

I think a lot of what people have in those 6 suitcases is stuff they are bringing down for the wedding, not just clothes, etc. I will likely have a ton as I'm bringing down all my bouquets, centerpieces (huge), OOT bags and programs, etc. I can't even imagine how many I will have. Maybe 10huh.gif

I'm trying to travel with as little as possible because I am afraid with three flights we will be missing something once we get there. I am planning on one carry on suit case that my faince can carry since I will have my dress. Then checking two big suit cases. We are going to NYC on the way back from the Carribean so we need winter clothes too (November wedding). I am hoping to give his mom and my mom stuff to take with them if need be. I'm stressed just thinking about it!

I just returned from my wedding one week ago today. I was there for 12 days and had 7 suitcases, a laptop and a large carry on bag and my dress.

I gave 2 suitcases to my bridesmaids and we took 5.

I brought down OOT bags and stuff for them, paper lanterns, candles, real touch flower bouquets and centerpiece flowers, bouts & corsages. I brought down all the guest book table stuff and menu's, programs, etc.

So be prepared if you plan to bring a lot down, it was fine, not too expensive and it all worked out, nothing broke, nothing lost, nothing questioned!

I will have a ton of stuff to take also. We are staying in Mexico for 2 weeks, so in addition to traditional vacation packing, I anticipate that we will be taking the following items for the wedding:

- OOT bags and contents

- flowers: bouquets, bouts, altar decor, corsages...

- wedding attire

- decor: chair sashes, table runners, centerpieces,...

- programs and fans

The plan is to purchase some durable plastic containers (think, Rubbermaid) for the wedding stuff. We will just secure them well and dispose of them after use. There is NO WAY I'm shipping anything. I've read horror stories on here about things getting lost, damaged, or delayed. We plan to divide the containers up amongst the WP and family to defray the cost for extra baggage and decrease the hassle in customs. Wish us luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
