Grand Velas Vallarta : Seeking Real Bride Reviews!

Recommended Posts

I haven't had a wedding there but I did stay there last May 22nd - May 30th and had a FABULOUS time. I mean the resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing. We are even going back to their sister resort Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, we leave in 9 days and I can't wait.

I did see the set up for one wedding there and it was absolutely stunning. I mean the views were crazy beautiful.

Im sorry I don't have more info on the weddings. If you have any questions about the resort itself or want to see pictures please let me know. When you stay at their sister property you can eat and swim/visit any of their sister resorts. We are going to be having dinner there at Grand Velas one night while we are in PV.

Thanks to you ladies both. Your comments are helpful in a way :) On Trip Advisor, some folks mentioned getting sick from the food and/or water there. The terrace is what I fell in love with and cinched it for me that Mexico was the place to be for my special day. It's an amphitheater with 3 large white square structures lined up and they occasionally hang a cross in the middle square. Did any of you see that part of the property?

Yes! I saw that part, It was SO gorgeous and it's overlooking the water. And they have these lights (all different colors) they were changing from blue and purple while we were there. We meant to go back and take pictures in that area but we were always too busy to do it or didn't have our camera with us. If you're looking at the pool it's to the left of the infinity pool (Which is just one of the most breathtaking infinity pools i've ever seen).

Keep in mind most people get a little sick in Mexico no matter where you stay or what you eat. I like to call it "part of the experience". We just got back and almost everyone out of our group of 44 had some stomach issues at least one day and most (including us, had it again when we got home). It wasn't anything too serious, just a little annoying. The group stayed and ate at various places so it couldn't be attributed to any one thing. It happens everytime I go. It is better if you take acidopholus (not sure how to spell that, but it a pill with the good bacteria found in yogurt).

We didn't stay at Casa Velas but it came down to a decision between that and Villa Premire for the night after the wedding.

Oh I would also like to add we go to Mexico every year for at least one of our vacations and it's usually in PV. We have only been sick once. And that was from the food on the Rhythm of the Nights tour. And it wasn't just us, the other couple that came with us also fell ill. It is for that reason I began to waver about Las Caletas. Although I'm sure they just had a night off.

Other than that, I can't imagine getting sick at Grand Velas.

We stayed at the GVV for our honeymoon and I loved it. It was very quiet, not a party resort but the service was amazing! I felt so spoiled there. The spa was a amazing too. Almost two years later and I still dream about it. The resort is very clean so I am not sure why someone would get sick or complain about the food. You have five-star meals. People tend to exaggerate and forget that when they go to an AI they tend to over-indulge in the all-you-can-eat food and alcohol.

I wrote a review which you can find in my sig. If the link doesn't work, pm me and I'll try to find the post.

I am actually having my wedding there in October and we went and checked it out and it was really great! I have only heard great things about the place and the service so far has been great! I was kind of bummed that my original wedding planner Karla was no longer my planner now since she left the resort but other than that everything has been good. The wedding site with the Big white square things is what sold me! I feel in love with it as I was walking up! Its just beautiful! After October I will have more info for you!

My FI and I decided to have our honeymoon there.  It looks great and I have not seen but only a few bad reviews out of hundreds.  I am really excited for a week of being pampered at this amazing resort.  Now, all I have to find is where to stay the week of my wedding in Puerto Vallarta.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
