I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions but I love that you posted this because I was also thinking about posting a similar question. We're having a luau reception & my wedding dress isn't casual to say the least :) I was looking for something to change into as well.

Any ladies have ideas??

I thought about this. Not sure what you ladies budget is but I know the salon that I bought my dress from has a lot of "reception" dresses as they are called. They range from about $800 - $2000. Or you can always check the regular store like Neiman's, Saks...oh BCBG has a selection of beautiful flowy dresses right now ($150 -$350).

I bought a backup dress just in case smth happens but I was not planning on changing into it unless I absolutely have to. It is still a very pretty dress and I bought it on sale at David's Bridal for 150$ or something. If I don't wear it, I will just sell it afterwards since it's already hemmed but the tags are still on so it's obviously brand new.

If your dress is very heavy and thick, then definitely get something more comfortable. My dress is not poofy or heavy at all (looks more like a red carpet gown than a princess dress) so I didn't have this problem to think of..

Good luck!

I'm thinking of changing at some point during the reception. While shopping for bridesmaids dresses (knee-length and tea-length), I discovered that a lot of them actually come in white and ivory. They seem to be much more affordable than "reception dresses," so I will probably go that route.

I am doing this....I also LOVE my dress, but i am worried about it not coming clean after a beach reception since i am wearing it again for the AHR.

Most bridesmaid dresses come in white as well....i found a chiffon and silk one that i loved and went that route. Helped with the budget, it is light and flowy and no one will ever know (except you ladies here) that its a bridesmaid dress!

I am changing for my reception and I went to a bridal shop and bought a bridesmaid gown in Ivory! It was only $138 and with a flower in my hair, nobody will know the difference! Look into bridesmaid gowns in ivory or white to save $

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
