The atmosphere I'm looking for is casual and fun - we really want our guest to meet and mingle so we were thinking instead of a full sit down dinner - just cocktails and heavy appetizers or buffet type dinner.
Never heard of Spiaggia? Ours came to almost $50 pp but the original quote was $29, we just added some things including alcohol. We had about 35 people I believe. Cocktails and apps would totally work rather than a full dinner.

The awesome thing about BT is that food is served family style - they bring platters and everyone digs in. This was invaluable for mingling because everyone was sharing food and food is quite the unifier...lol You could do it quite inexpensively at BT if you just selected a few tapas and drinks rather than a full menu.

Where is BT located?

Also, I'm looking for some authentic Mexican food. I was going to start a new thread but I figured we had enough restaurant threads already cheesy.gif So if anyone knows of a great Mexican food restaurant with a cool authentic atmosphere please let me know! I'm always amazed at how little Mexican food is served in Mexico cheesy.gif (well, at least near the resort areas). We will be staying in the Marina area FYI. TIA

Spiaggia is beautiful. One of my favorite PV restaurants. It is classy and has a great lounge area that can be rented for after hours. It is pricier than the average PV restaurant though. Also, if you are staying at Dreams make sure you make it down to Le Kliff. It has a breaktaking view and the food has been wonderful the two times I have eaten there. The website looks super cheesy but IRL it is actually very nice.

Sorry I'm late....it is located downtown just off of Matamoros, set back in the hilly area. Centrally located though and so worth a visit. The food is phenomonal, truly.
Welcome to BarcelonaTapas.net

Mexican food is tricky....there are a bunch of places I just never tried them. We've had Mexican food at Cafe Bohemio in the romantic zone and No Name Cafe on the Malecon but it has to get better than that. The food was decent but not outstanding.

Try to go to El Repollo Rojo (red cabbage). I never make it there but it gets top reviews for authentic Mexican food. People rave over the Frieda and Diego wedding fiest.

Google it and you'll see the reviews...here's an article:

Thanks!
Probably so, but not all in one place. The restaurant is like 3 stories I think? The level we were on probably sits 60 tops...maybe the other levels are larger, not sure. You could rent out all the levels but then everybody wouldn't be together.

Heather-

Not sure if you are still on this site but I was wondering what you ended up doing for your welcome reception? I am also considering just coctails and heavy appetizers. Did you end up getting any quotes for this?

Thanks,

Meg

I love PiPi's too, and Barracuda is a really nice restaurant right on the beach very authentic too (my dad became friends with the owner since they go there all the time) also Aye Carumba has great food and view!

Here are some pics of Barracuda -

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
