Its a tough decision...i agree! I definitely want to do a ttd session because the pictures come out beautiful and ive heard the experience is so romantic...Im unsure yet if ill wear my gown or buy a 2nd cheap one to wear...i do understand though that it doesnt make sense to spend more money on another one, so your original can hang in a closet...hmmm...still undecided

TTD - When I was married (my first time) I never heard of this! What I did with my "very traditional" wedding dress was had the train of it made into a Christening gown for my daughter when she was baptized. I had it preserved, so my daughter will always have this.

Now that I am on "I Do - Take 2" and getting married again, in a un-traditional caribbean way, I just may TRASH MY DRESS!!

Your dress is gorgeous Vanessa, and I can see why you're worried about ruining it - but really, are you ever going to wear it again? If you plan to resell it, then go ahead to buy a cheapie to trash. Lots of brides do it and you don't even notice that they're not wearing "the one" in the TTD pics!

i definitely agree on this! dont buy a new dress. chances are you wont wear your wedding dress again and by the time your children marry, other wedding styles will be in fashion and they most likely will not want to re-wear their parents outfits. Have fun and trash your wedding dress!

I say trash it! Once in a lifetime opportunity for unbelievable photos...course I'm in the industry...but not all photographers charge extra for a destination TTD, and if you trash your original, there is no need to spend extra $ on a 2nd dress. I think some of my favorite shots I've ever taken have come from TTD shoots.

Spend $$$$ on a dress and then trash it?! But that's just me. I will admit though that the pics I've seen have been very nice so I'd say if you wanna have fun with it then just get a knock off that looks very similar to your wedding gown. Check the knock off gown thread and definitely scour ebay!

Your dress will definately never look the same. Why don't you get a second dress that looks similar to your first one. There are so many inexpensive options...a lot of dept. stores have bridal salons, David's Bridal...I just called the bridal store where I got my Bridesmaid dresses & flat out told her I need a dress for $99...and she said okay and gave me several options. I think you have to think about what's more important to you...would you rather hold onto your actual dress, or be concerned that people are focusing how amazing your TTD photos are & not having them think that you did it the same day? Good luck!

im not really concerned about ruining my dress b/c alot of other brides have said that once you get it cleaned, it really comes out fine...im more concerned with getting a soaking wet, heavy bridal gown on the plane...our TTD pics are on Saturday, we leave to come home on Sunday....any suggestions? thanks, nicole

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
