Thanks Cincee,

We had the 1.5 hr cocktail reception with open bar and hors d'oeuvres.  There was so much food and even more drinks!

I am sailing on Carnival Liberty leaving Miami on May 14, 2011. I am having having my wedding on May 17th in St Thomas and then coming back on board the ship for the wedding reception. We are having a two hour reception in the stage lounge booked. Do you have any pictures of the wedding reception you could send me? I would love to get a feel for what it will be like! I am trying to think of ways to make the reception better... more personal. I was thinking about getting custom made napkins and/or coaster. I am also not sure what to do for favors? Do you have any suggestions on ways to enhance the room?

Also I am having what they told me is a "social host" for my music selection which will kind of MC the wedding, but will play music we have on a CD. Then after the two hour reception we have booked an hour open bar and a 4 piece band in the room across from the stage lounge this way we can extend the reception to 3 hours. I am not getting real details on what kind of music the band will play. When did you find out you were having Mambo Magic? Did you have any options for music?

Hi JlKone!

My friend is getting married on the Carnival Liberty the week before you on the Western itinerary! We'll be getting off and you will be getting on LOL. She is also getting married on land and having the two hour cocktail reception back on the ship.  That's a great idea to book an extra hour! It goes by so fast.

The stage lounge is a really beautiful room so it doesn't need much.  The tables with the hors d'oeuvres was decorated with a lot of colourful fruit 'art' and flowers. The co-ordinator also set up a guest book table as you enter the stage and we brought flower petals to spread around on the table.  We also brought along some silk flowers to use for the cake topper because the one Carnival uses isn't the nicest.

We found out we would be having Mambo Magic two weeks before the cruise.  We thought the band would be more of an instrumental quartet and we're not sure what to expect when the co-ordinator told us the band played mostly latin music but they were the best part of the reception.  Their music was so much fun and they even took care of MC duties for us. It seems the band who plays in the cigar bars are the ones who perform for the weddings as well.  Any cruise I have been on they are always my favourite band to listen to because they can play just about anything.

If you have any more questions just ask.

Also I can send our pics to you if you want to send me your email address. My email is a_walsh19@hotmail.com

Take care!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
