Jess3414's Dreams Los Cabos Wedding Review

Recommended Posts

Here is my wedding review. I almost dont want to even write one because then I have to face the reality that i'm not PLANNING a wedding anymore! sad.gif It makes me so sad that it's all over now!!

Dreams Resort – A+

The resort is absolutely beautiful! Vivid colors, amazing scenery (mountains, beach, ocean, horses, beautiful white sand), and so much to do! When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of champagne and helped up to our room. There was a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we got there. We stayed for 12 days and the service was amazing the entire time. Unlimited room service and they will come re-stock your fridge at any hour of the day. There were lots of activities to keep us entertained the entire time. They have pub crawls, casino nights, tequila tastings, a night club and a lobby bar along with several restaurants that were all AMAZING. We never had any additional charges put on our bill for anything. I have traveled to a lot of places and stayed in many nice resorts but I was sincerely impressed with how Dreams handles everything. There really wasnâ€t much that the staff WONâ€T do for you. They are so friendly and remember almost every guest by name. All of the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are pleased. At one point, I broke a metal hair piece I had brought to wear and the maintenance and jewelry store both were scrambling for me to find super glue. They ended up wiring it back together for me and never complained once about anything. The maids are incredible! Almost every day they folded any of my clothes that were out and put everything back away and left the room spotless. I was so depressing to come home and not have a button for maid or room service!! 12 days at this resort can really spoil a person! wink.gif

Coordinator – A+

My coordinator was Mariana. When I first started this planning process I was like many of the Dreams brides. NERVOUS! When I would email it would take about a week for responses and itâ€s so hard to know over email if a person really understands what you want. Towards the end of my planning I found that it was easiest to call her. She almost always answered unless she was dealing with a wedding at that time. When I got there I realized how wrong I was to have ever second guessed anything about my planning! Everything single thing was handled. I donâ€t think there was anything about my wedding day that didnâ€t come out exactly as I wanted it to be. These girls do this every day and really know what theyâ€re doing. I canâ€t believe how many weddings happen at the Dreams. In the 12 days I was there I probably saw 10 weddings including mine, so when youâ€re planning your big day, donâ€t get frustrated or overwhelmed if you donâ€t hear back right away. Everything will get handled and done to your satisfaction. Mariana really made sure that any and every request I had was fulfilled. I have not one complaint (and I am a hard person to please!)

Cabo Rey Dinner Cruise – A+++

We did a lot of research and were pretty nervous about doing a “booze cruise†because we had people there from 16 months old to 80 years old. This was SUCH a nice boat. Great for every age. Probably the largest boat docked in the marina and it was such a fun trip. We saw lots of wild life, seals, birds, fish jumping out of the water. They have a live band playing on the top deck with open bars and they cruise you around both sides of the arch. When the sun sets you head downstairs for a 5 course very upscale dinner along with a live latin show that is actually really fun to watch. By the time we were done with the night we were exhausted but I wanted to go on it again the next day. It really was an incredible experience. Everyone is still talking about it.

Hair/Make-up – A+

My cousin came with me to do all of our hair and makeup and she did an incredible job. Exactly what I wanted.

Photo/Video – A

My photographer and videographer was Dino Gomez. He came with his brother and the two of them did both photo and video. I havenâ€t gotten any of my professional pictures back yet so I canâ€t fully rate him but I can say he was fun to work with and very professional. I had a few picture ideas that I wanted to make sure I got and he even went out of his way to get the props I needed for them and brought them. My one complaint is that I wanted a lot of before pictures – pictures with my bridesmaids getting ready, pictures of all the details, pictures of my guests, etc. I am worried that he didnâ€t get very many of those. He showed up an hour before the wedding and everything seemed very rushed to get just the basic pictures I wanted. A couple of days after the wedding he came back and took us to a couple different locations around Cabo to get some different shots and do a trash the dress. We went to a very quiet private little beach area and had a lot of fun with the ocean and beach, and standing on the rocks with the waves crashing behind us. I canâ€t WAIT to see those shots. Overall I thought Dino was great. I canâ€t wait to see my video also!

DJ – A+

For a DJ we just rented the iPod speakers and made our own playlist. My sisterâ€s boyfriend acted as MC and welcomed us as bride and groom, got everyoneâ€s attention for the cake cutting, and called the bride and groom over for the bouquet and garter toss. The rest of the time the music just played. It actually turned out great. Everyone complimented the music and having someone that is a part of the family do the MCing made it a little more fun and personal. The next day everyone kept asking for a copy of the playlist. We listened to it the whole trip. Now it makes me sad to hear some of the songs because I just canâ€t believe that itâ€s OVER! I want to get married again and again!!

Flowers – A++++

The flowers were probably the most important thing to me about my wedding day. I wanted them to be perfect and they were so much better! I coordinated everything myself directly through Florenta. I worked with Rosio and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I made all of the crystals that we inserted into the flowers and gave those to her the morning of the wedding and she arranged them in all of the centerpieces and bouquets. I ended up getting two more bouquets than I had paid for which was a nice surprise. All of the colors were so vibrant and the arrangements were identical to what I had asked her for. Everything I wanted was there down to the rose pedals for the cake, isle and people to throw. I kept the flowers in my room for the entire time we were there and they stayed alive. I wish I could have brought them home with me.

Cake – A+

My cake turned out sooo pretty. It was the one included with the ultimate package. We went with the tres leches and it tasted really good! Iâ€m not much of a cake person so I only had a bite (part of which my husband smeared all over my whole face wink.gif) but it was delicious!! I was worried that it would be smaller than what I preferred but after seeing it, it was the perfect size. They even cut the top off and had it waiting in our room when we went upstairs. We couldnâ€t bring the top back to the states so after a couple glasses of champagne we ate most of it. Most of our guests didnâ€t even eat it because they had been served a desert with the dinner, but Mike and I had fun cutting it and smearing it on each other  I am sure there are some good pics of that when Dino sends me my photos!!

Fire Dancers – A

We hired Lunas de Fuegos to do the fire dancing. We paid for 2 dancers and recorded music and we ended up getting about 6 dancers and live music. It was the last part of the night and everyone was amazed. We didnâ€t tell our guests we were doing this so when the dancers showed up everyone was really wowed. Tons of guests in the hotel came out of their rooms to watch, and the staff too so I guess you could say everyone got entertainment out of it.

All in all my wedding went amazing. If you want my opinion, you canâ€t get married or even vacation for that matter anywhere better than the Dreams. I just canâ€t imagine any other place topping the service and treatment throughout the whole process. My husband and I are already planning our first anniversary there. We canâ€t WAIT to head back!

You cannot swim in the ocean outside of the Dreams but if you walk down the beach a little ways to the north you will run into the cabo real and the hilton. There is a swimmable beach in between the two. Honestly, none of our guests even complained about not being able to go in the water. The sand there is really rough and uncomfortable to walk on and the pools are all so nice with swim up bars and everything. its only about a 10-15 minute walk to the hiltons beach where the waves are a little calmer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
