Jamaica Wedding-Need HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi All-

My fiance' and I decided last week that a traditional wedding is not for us, so we're going with a DW. In doing so, there are TONS of places and this is extremely overwhelming girl_werewolf.gif

I would really appreciate help with the following areas:

Wedding Planner- I've heard really bad reviews about LUXE, so I am staying away from them.

Place for Wedding/Reception- We are not keen on the idea of marrying in front of hotel patrons, so we want something intimate and private for the wedding and reception.

Place for family to stay- We've decided to spend a few days with our family and then depart to enjoy the remainder of our stay as it will be our honeymoon as well. The family can stay at a Sandals resort as it is very budget friendly.

Place for us to stay- We've considered staying at the Caves, but we're not impressed by the lack of sand. We would love recommendations on private villas that exude romance.

Thanks so much everyone pinkie.gif

It sounds like you defintely know what you want. I've read and seen pics about Moon Dance Villa's and Rockhouse Hotel as a beautiful setting for weddings as well as a great place to stay. Very private and romantic. Also, if you were interested in staying at a resort and getting married off site, I think Negril Escape is absolutely gorgeous! I got a quote from them and they were reasonable and the setting is just breath taking.

I was looking at alternative ceremony locations as well and came across tropicalweddingsjamaica.com They have some beautiful spots for the ceremony but unfortunately wasn't within my personal budget. I recommend checking it out though, I liked the 'tropical grande oceanfront' spot....gorgeous!!! You can request a quote on the website as well. Good Luck!!!!

I also recommend that you contact Almarie Walters from Tropical Weddings Jamaica. She is also coordinating my wedding and she's been FABULOUS, she answers all your questions thoroughly and replies quickly. I have not heard any negative feedback about Almarie and so far I have no complaints. I highly recommend you check it out.

virtuos and Mrs B,

I was looking intno Cozumel weddings when I came across Almarie myself. They do have some amazing locations! I just sent Almarie an email a little while ago and I am waiting for a response.

Where are you guys having your ceremony? Are you having a reception as well? Did you get any kind of live music such as a steel band? Are you bringing in an outside photgrapher? I am hoping I can get everything I want into my budget LOL I would love to see pics of other brides on the forum who have used Almarie.

Thanks

Jenna

Let me recommend Ari with Negril Jamaica Weddings.com. She is absolutely FANTASTIC! I'm so serious. We're getting married at Villas Sur Mer - On the cliffs in Negril, Jamaica next April. I was originally set on Tensing Pen | A Secluded Destination Resort in Jamaica, but because of some issues with transparency on charges and (mis)communication, I decided to look elsewhere. Ari works with a number of venues. I know The Negril Escape Resort & Spa is one of them. Though she recommended Negril Escape, for what I wanted, she recommended Villa Sur Mer instead. I looked at their website and read reviews on Villas Sur Mer (Negril, Jamaica) - Villa Reviews - TripAdvisor and was immediately sold.

You should definitely contact Ari. Let me know if you need any additional help.

Hi there,

I got married at Negril Escape this past January. We were also looking for a private wedding and this place fit the bill perfectly. I just posted a review under the Wedding Review section today. Feel free to email me if you have any questions! Anywhere in Negril would be a great choice!

I have been working with Helen G Events and she has been great, she responds quickly and is pretty detailed and thorough. She offered and has done a table setting for me which turned out great. She has access to the same locations as all the wedding planners islandwide as well as private villas and some great private estates. Plus she offers a location search service where she helps you to find the right location for you based on what you want. I used her location search service to find my wedding location and it was worth it as I got to see a lot of locations that are available islandwide.

As a matter of fact you can take a look at her event portfolio on her website Destination Weddings, Weddings In Jamaica, Wedding Planner In Jamaica, Getting Married In Jamaica.

All the Best and Good Luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
