Hi Ladies, I am in need of some MAJOR help!!! Our AHR is right around the corner and I have nothing set yet as far as decorsad.gif We don't really have wedding colors, but want to keep it beachy or tropical for the our reception!! I have no idea what to do, or colors for anything!! We were thinking about doing luggage tags as our seating assignments stuck in sand, we thought that would go with the destination theme and it was something people may actually use again!! ANY HELP or input would be SOOOO much appreciated!!! Thanks girls, I know with all your help I can begin to get it together!!!!!

Well let's start with where are you having it? Is it formal or more casual? If it is more formal, like you are wearing your dress and having it in a nice hall and such the luggage tags in sand is a super cute idea for the seating arrangements.

We are having ours very casual, actually a Beach celebration in my mom's backyard. We are going to have a candy buffet, playing my DH IPod through speakers, and hiring a caterer. But if you are having it inside I think having the ball laterns or even the cute light up palm trees (not the tacky looking ones, there are cute ones out there)...

>Andrea, your ideas on the lanterns are great!

> Jen would you like to have a color theme? how about blue and gold, sea and sand idea, then you could work around that and have the place cards, centerpieces etc a little more tropical and tie it tother more?

Will the band be plying tropical kinda music too? or is it more a traditional band?

let us know what you come up with?

my AHR has morphed into something similar....we opted for a clean and crisp white and aqua blue (like the ocean) then incorperated some seashells into our centerpieces to bring the beachy feel....

as for favors, we have sand dollar cookies and chocolate seashells in a bag for each guest - i call it beach in a bag....i figure it will make a good late night snack in the car ride home, and its not something anyone will throw in a drawer at home and never use

we're also having a slide show play of the destination wedding throughout the night

the whole idea was to sort of bring back the beach feeling to those at the AHR who didnt make it to our destination wedding.

If you're going more formal I'd say definitely Paper Lanterns and Tropical Flowers. Maybe a centerpiece of glass bowl, sand, water, and floating candles. Or submersed tropical flowers with floating candles. But I don't know about the luggage tags w/sand. Could you possibly get souvenirs from your destination? Rum? Tequila? Cigars? Shot Glass?

Lets see i would keep it very simple white table cloths then add tropical colours that way you can pick up bargains along the way.Raffia table mats(you can use them again) pebbles and quite large vases sat on top with a floating candle I would then add one flower to the table mat.Just repeat on each table.

Ikea have some fantastic tea lites which you could then add between the larger centre pieces. You could pick hot pink turquoise and orange.

Just remember you can sell it all on here later.

Sand dollors hand written with the guests name and your wedding date would make fabulous wedding seating cards and favours.Tie ribbon in the different colours to match the tables i.e hot pink table 1 turquoise table 2 orange table 3 gold table 4 etc

Whilst your away take some photos with the table number written in the sand.

I think if you use items for two things it will keep the cost down and save you worrying whilst away about what you have left to do.

I think by keeping the colours beachy tropical your not limiting yourself

I got some turquoise napkins in ikea

I dont think you can go over board with tea lites

hope that helps xx

I like the idea of keeping it simple, here is a link to the style me pretty blog of one of our brides who did a lot of homemade (easy and inexpensive) decorating to make things personal.

Destination Wedding with DIY Style | Style Me Pretty : The Ultimate Wedding Blog

Pick out 1-2 strong colors to work with. I like turquoise and white (makes me feel beachy) but the above bride went with more a yellow and green theme that worked.

I love her glass jars as centerpieces with large shells in them.

You may want to think of some sort of board/display of some kind and put up snaps from your wedding to show people (maybe take a polaroid camera and have some cool vintage looking shots on it and then have the camera for people to take photos of themselves for you?)

Table designations...starfish or sand dollars with the number are quick and you can order them from oriental trading easily. As said before photos of table numbers in the sand (or of you and your hubby holding various numbers around the resort) Photos could be in white or silver frames of various shapes and sizes which you could then use to put your favorite wedding photos after.

If you want inspiration for dessert tables...here is a favorite blog of mine

Hope that gets your creative juices flowing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
