Finleys7 (Shannon)'s Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Review: 5-1-2010

Recommended Posts

Hi Shannon! Thank you for your thorough review. I just joined the BDW forum this week to find out a little more about things like flowers and photogs. I am getting married at the Maya on October 8th and thanks to your review, have booked Claudia Rodriguez' as my photographer. I damn near died when I saw the hotel's photoshop - photocaribbean's - work. Nothing creative and total cheese. They are def laughing all the way to the bank. So, thank you for your review. I wanted to inquire further about your centerpieces. You mentioned going with a local floral shop that contract with Iberostar. Was the hotel not able to provide flowers for your centerpieces, or did you just feel comfortable using an outside resource? Also, did you reach out to them prior to your wedding week arrival, or when you arrived? How was their pricing? Thanks in advance.

Best,

Amy

Amy, you made the right choice with Claudia...she's GREAT! The hotel service is definitely making out...$300 every time they DON'T do work...HaHa

The centerpieces would have been a little smaller and I wanted the tall vases. The Del Mar only had 5 and we had 10 tables. So rather than mix and match with tall and short, I went outside. So easy to work with, it was $50 a centerpiece @ 10 tables, so $500 not so bad =)
And they were just how I pictured...he sent a prototype and everything, with details of the flowers...so we knew what to expect.

I emailed prior to arrival about 2 months ahead of time. And no deposit was required, but we signed the contract (electronically) of course.

Good luck and ask away...that's why us Married ones keep coming back to the site idea.gif

Shannon I love it!!! Sounds like you had a blaaassssttt!

It's funny my one complaint was that it was sooooo freaking hot and we were all sweating a lot. We had the exact same open air but covered patio type of thing for our reception. When talking to everyone later they said they embraced it and didn't even care! Amazing how people just have fun, I love it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
