HI!! My Fiance and I are getting married at EDR in May of this year! I am super excited but stressed at the same time. We will be having about 25 people down there with us and we decided to do the free wedding! I was wondering about the dinner at El Cocotal. I hoped it would be nice enough. I didn't even think about negotiating things for the wedding. Flowers, runner, etc. Has that worked? Do you talk to Lomas Travel (I am also dealing with Valeria), or the coordinator when I get to the resort. We weren't going to do a private reception there b/c we are having a party when we get back as well. I guess I am looking for advice, ideas, experiences, etc. This website is great and I really should look at it more!

jjwed - i haven't tried negotiating the wedding components (flowers, runner, etc). i don't know how much flexibility there is with that. i've heard that the dinner at el cocotal is great and it's an awesome venue for one of your private events.

Help! Okay, I have 7 bridesmaids and I really don't want to spend $50 for each of their bouquets (or more). Is everyone else doing bouquets or something different? I was thinking about parasols, but wasn't sure about how that would look?

Is anyone having trouble getting in contact with Valeria? She is my wedding coordinator and up 'til now has been very good at responding to my emails. I am wanting to start planning the reception and I haven't received a response to my email(s) in a week now. OR, am I just being paranoid and need to be more patient?

I actually just rcv'd an email response from her regarding our up-coming site visit on Sunday, Jan 29th.

I emailed Valeria Monday to ask about my bouquet and I haven't heard back either. I agree, I usually get prompt responses back.

 

A week definitely sounds like a long time. I would email her again because I would be concerned as well.

kathrat - i am biting the bullet and just paying for the bouquets. i'm using them for the centerpieces at the reception so it made me feel a bit better.

 

getting in contact with valeria has been a bit more difficult lately but i think it's because she's managing a lot of us! she just responded this morning with answers to my questions so i think she's working her way down her to do list. :-)
