El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know about how many bartenders and waiters there are at the reception?  I am getting together my tip envelopes and want to have a better idea.  We are having 39 guests at our reception and it will be at the Tucanes bar.

Also, what are some apprpriate tip amounts?

-Bartenders

-Waitstaff

-Wedding Coordinator

-DJ

-Emcee with the DJ

-also I read not to tip the videographer and photographers....is this standard?

Hi I know this is rare but I'm a guy on this site my fiancé  and I are getting married at the EDR also, We really our wedding is at the Generations, but all of our guest are staying at the EDR or the Casitias.  I was on this site looking a pre travel letter to use for our guest. Best of luck. We have been stalking the weather also. If you have a good templet for a pre travel letter I would love to see it.

Tipping is really such a personal choice. So really it's the thought that counts. I believe there is usually only one bartender (for a group under 40-45). Then it was usually about one waiter per 10 guests , if I remember correctly. There are usually a few extra staff running around cleaning, getting other staff items, etc.

Welcome! I got married at Azul Sensatori, but here is a link to my pre-travel brochure. Most of the information would be the same. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/58175-pre-travel-brochure-for-mayan-riveriacancun-using-word-photos-now-added-on-page-2/

Hello past brides,

Has anyone had a problem with their on site meeting with the Wedding Coordinator?  Marisol just told me that mine is Saturday at 11am.  We come in on Thursday so I originally requested Thursday or Friday.  We have a pre-paid excursion we booked with all of our family and friends on Saturday am.  She is telling me that this can't be changed and it's the only slot available.  Anyone have a similar situation that you can give me some advice on?  Not to mention I am going to have about 7 suitcases full of items before I hand them off to the WC at this meeting.

Thanks,

Nicki

ugh -that timing is no bueno! I would keep asking Marisol, tell her you aren't available on Saturday at all. and if she still can't (or doesn't, or won't) change it, go straight to the wedding planner's office when you arrive and ask to move it. If they aren't in the office or are busy (meeting with another couple), ask your concierge to call them and help you reschedule. Then you follow up with a call and ask to reschedule. I would 100% expect the onsite WC team to work with you as much as possible.

I'm surprised they wanted to meet on Saturday honestly - that's usually a busy wedding day and the onsite WC are bouncing between brides getting ready and venues setting up.

With the suitcases, worst case the bellmen can store it for you - ask them NOT to deliver those to your room (or ask them to take them back to the front when they arrive). The WC really don't have a lot room in their little office to store a lot of stuff.

Has anyone ever had trouble with the hotel selling out the weekend of your wedding?  I have guests trying to book still and our resort is booked, so is Casitas and Generations.  I saw some openings at Moroma but they charge $100 for a day pass each day and only let them on from 9am-5pm.  Has anyone dealt with this before?  :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
