El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Thank you so much for your replies on my budget "crisis". I think I'm sort of over it for now. I think I was just in shock when I added all the totals. I spent the day with my MOH and my family, so they all made me feel better being able to talk about it. My wedding is something I have dreamt about my whole life. I know I would regret not doing what I really want. It comforts me a little to know that other EDR couples are paying similar to what we are paying. Thanks again for your feedback! I don't know what I would do without all you girls!

On a totally different note, Has anyone gone with the Honeymoon Wedding Registry offered by Karisma? FI and I like the idea but not sure if it's too much of a headache.

If any of you have done it or planning on doing it, what has it been like?

We're curious to know.

Thanks,

I know exactly how you feel-- some days I think about the money- and it literally can make me physically nauseous. However, I have "polled" some gfriends that are getting married locally and having the traditional wedding -and they are spending that much and sometimes more on one day-- so I just tell myself that I'm getting a whole week of celebration out of it! :):)

Thanks,
I did register with honeymoonwishes.com It was easy to do. Guest can buy credit towards anything for you and FI at the resort. We just wanted atleast enough to do massage on the beach. Anything extra we would apply towards our wedding cost at EDR. We got enough to get the massages. Then you just cash out and they will send you a check or you can get it direct deposited into paypal account if you have one. It great if you don't need alot of household items and your registry is small. That is why we did it. People thought it was a great idea for the shower.

It does add up and you can go all out or keep it to a minimum and still have a beautiful wedding. We planned our wedding only in 8 months and I didn't have a budget. I did what I wanted although shopped around to keep my other costs down. We are staying 9 nights in the casita's & having a private reception as well with 16 guests including myself & FI. I have not actually sat down and figured out what we spent with everything yet. I know at the resort it was $5000 room & $1100 for our flights. The extra's at the resort was about $2000 including $500 photography fee. My photographer was $1100. Cancun Studios will give you $250 off towards the fee the resort charges to help you out towards that. I got everything we wanted and didn't go to overboard. You will get all kinds of ideas from this blog. It has been the best form of information for me. Plus you meet alot of great brides on here. I'm so glad I was a part of this. Anything you need just ask we are all here to help you with your planning or any questions. Best wishes and happy planning.

We get to the Cancun airport at 10 the day of your wedding, then we'll be staying in the Casitas too. Your wedding was at Gazebo 55, right? What time again? I will be looking for you, and I would love for the 4 of us (if we can get the boys to agree!) to have a drink! Maybe Anna can join us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
