El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what happened to my response on that last one!  But what I had said was, I think you'll be ok with a 4pm ceremony, just make sure you start on time and keep all your peeps focused during photos so you get all the shots you want before the sun sets.  Citlalli is really good at doing this anyways.  When are your spa appts?  Mine were at noon for hair and make up at the Casitas Spa.  We were done around 2:30 and then had enough time to get back to my room and get our dresses on.

Thanks for the advice! In the last 2 weeks EVERYTHING has changed....and the new wedding date is Friday, April 8th 2011!!! (Orginally we were thinking November 2011, but the future hubby's brothers are also getting married this year...and the end of the year won't work).

That being said, we're doing a 3pm wedding at Gazebo 55 (We went and did a site visit the weekend of Dec. 11th and LOVED IT!)

How are the wedding coordinators about bringing your own items? We plan to bring our own sand ceremony kit, sand, fans, programs and mini maracas for the ceremony. For the reception we have these little diamonds we want scattered on the tables, as well as pink jellybeans!

Would love to get an idea on what your pricing was like. We're currently working with Valeria, and she seems quite responsive. I hope that continues!!!

Thanks girls for all the input and support.

ps- i still haven't gone dress shopping and that is one thing that is stressing me out like crazy!!!! :(

We just got back from our wedding at EDR on Dec 1, 2010 and it was amazing!  Girls you and your guests will all love this resort!  I'll be writing my full review soon, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on your question.

The one thing my husband and I would change is our times.  We had a 4pm ceremony(Gazebo 55), cocktails at 6pm(Health Bar), dinner at 7pm(Tucanes Bar/Pool).  There was enough time in between all the events, but the sun goes down so early so we were scrammbling to get photos done after the ceremony before we lost light.  Also, private events end at 11pm, so if we had had our ceremony at 3pm and dinner at 6pm we would have had more dancing time!  Just little details, but things you think of after!!  (we also only had our photographer-Citlalli Rico-for 3 hours so that affected our photo rush!  We wish we could have afforded to have her longer, she was so great and worth every penny!)

Ok - got the ceremony moved up a half hour to 3:30 instead of 4:00 so that should give us plenty of time for pictures!  Claudia's crew will show up at 2:30 for getting ready pictures and we are good to go!

I know you are supposed to provide the photographer with a meal - does the resort just take care of this or do I need to set it up.  Since they are a resort vendor - I assume the resort is aware but Claudia mentioned it to me so maybe they aren't aware?

Congrats on your new wedding date. We got married at 3pm(but in November) and it was perfect. Not too early and not too late. We also got married at Gazebo 55 and it was by far the best location in my opinion. On my way to Gazebo 55 I went past a few other weddings, (there were 4 the day we got married and I only found that out because Lauren(vuitton) pointed out the weekly newsletter in the bathroom where it lists all the weddings for the week), and I was very happy with our choice after seeing the other locations all set up. They were all beautiful but just not as private as 55.

I worked with Valeria as well and she was fantastic to work with. Very helpful and accomodating. I was just sorry I never got to meet her since she was who I spent most of my time planning with. However Jorge and Odette at the resort were also very helpful. We had an issue in the beginning because we never got the letter stating what time we were supposed to meet with the resort wedding coordinator. I think Lauren might have had the same issue? Anyway because of that I didn't get my full meeting with them but everything still was perfect. We only had 20 guests and maybe that was why it was so easy. We brought our own sand ceremony stuff, centerpieces for the cocktail party tables, fans and bubbles for guest chairs and I brought my own bouquet and bouts for the guys. They charged us $5 to put out the fans/bubbles and also $5 to set up the cocktail party stuff. It wasn't much and it helped me not to have to worry about it but if you can have one of your guests put stuff out it would save you some money.

From them we paid for the Mexican cocktail party(with donkey) and added mahi-mahi tacos, bows for guest chairs(plus extra chairs) and 4 cocktail party tables, gazebo decorations(sheers, 2 hanging flower arraingments), the wooden walkway with black runner and flower petals, my hair/make up, hair for my mom and sister and our photography package and it came to just over $2700us. We just used their photographer and we were more than happy with how our pictures turned out and we didn't have to pay too much.

I've been meaning to do my review but haven't had time since I'm still planning our AHR which is in a week and a half. So if you have any questions/concerns or would like to see some pics please feel free to PM me. Good luck with your planning.

Congrats!

We to are getting married at EDR November 2011 3pm @ Gazebo 55! I was very excited to read your review. It was comforting, LOL!  We are planning the same Mexican cocktail hour after the cermony on the beach, then the private BBQ dinner at one of the bar/pool locations. I am going with Caribe photo, on the resort list. So far we are planning on about 30 guests..

I am looking forward to seeing your official review and any pics you have to share.

Good luck planning the AHR

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
