El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi! Our wedding is May 20, 2010 (Three weeks from tomorrow!!!!!!!) I'm excited, can you tell? My one concern is that we don't know what to do about music on the beach. We're not having a private reception but I want a first dance and father-daughter dance. EDR says we can do that in the gazebo directly after the wedding. But I'm concerned that having an Ipod at a wedding may be kind of tacky. Has anyone used the Ipod for the wedding? What did you think?

Hey Jodi20! We are using an IPOD for our ceremony and just having the onsite wedding coordinator control the music. THey have an IPOD doc and speaker system so I dont think its tacky at all! Dont forget, the fact that you are doing a destination wedding means that you are untraditional so anything goes!! :)

A la playa - I love your colors! I like that they are vivid and unique. My colors are yellow, turquoise and purple. I've chosen the decs for the gazebo and the reception. Let me know if you want me to share those.

I love the boat ride idea. If you can find something a bit nicer than a catamaran that would be perfect.

By the way ladies, just heard from Valeria that the hotel WILL honor the new, lower prices. This saves a lot of money!

Jasmin- That's awesome about the lower prices!! Your colors sound gorgeous together! I don't know if I've ever seen all three of those colors together, but now that I imagine them, they seem fabulous! I'd love to hear about your decorations. Did you select them yourself, or did you pick from selections that they provided?

I really wanted to do the sunset cruise, but I couldn't find a yacht that would hold more than 16 people (that wasn't cruise ship size), and since we have 22, I just couldn't make it work. Lol. I spent an entire Saturday afternoon researching the heck out of it.... It's too bad, because it could have been a really cool and unique thing to experience with our guests. If anyone knows of something I am missing, I am all ears~ :)

A la playa--it sounds like you have a plan!!! Those colors seem perfect! I agree if you could find a nicer yacht type of boat that would be classy and unique. I'll let you know if I see anything :)

Baglover--YAY!!! I'm so glad you got the lower prices too!!! I can't believe I happened to go on the site that day to check the menu again and there it was in black and white $26 pp! Your colors are very cool and perfect for the location!

I'm doing orange, hot pink, and teal! I purchased some decorations and plan on shipping them down to my WC in June. I also had my WC go out to the local market to look for my authentic mexican centerpieces...which I'm so thankful she did! I also bought some of that papel picado (if you google it you can find it) and I had it personalized with our date and names as well as in my colors. I also have a banner with our monogram on it that someone hand painted for us that I'm going to tie onto tiki torches and place in the sand during the reception.

Is anyone having a private event at the Health Bar? I am having our cocktail party there at 5:30 after our ceremony. I wanted it at Tucanes but couldn't because they only have events there from 6 pm on. I really could use some help on how to decorate this large space. If anyone knows what it looks like or has or will have their event there please help!

Thank you!!

Lauren

Thanks for the info, Dimplz! I'm definitely going to look into that. I think I remember you saying a while back how well-priced they were. They were so much better than what we were quoted through Lomas.

Are you all actually cruising on a catamaran or a yacht? My concern with a catamaran was that my guests would have to remain seated for most of the cruise, and I was picturing a cruise where they could get up and mingle with each other. (and us!) :)

Lauren, we are having the White Glove Cocktail Party at the Health Bar. I wish that I could help you with decoration suggestions, but honestly I am only going by what is recommended. We were told that this place was close to the chapel, so it would be a good location for our cocktail after the ceremony. If I get any pics (I've requested those from my TA), I'll pass them along.

I think it's awesome how much detail you ladies have already put into your decorations and planning! Your days are going to turn out beautifully!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
