El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Jennifer!

Yeah after a lot of thought i did realize that i was starting to worry to much and getting away from what i started with. I love their wedding locations and that was the biggest thing for me! Now why are your guest paying the $100 for the wedding? We should definetly talk because i have a lot of questions about having a private reception and stuff. I am having a reception back home after the trip so i do not know if i should have one in Mexico also. I guess it all depends on how much extra it is. We should defintely talk sometime though. -Lauren-

We had our ceremony at the Presidential Gazebo, with a cocktail party at the Fuentes gazebo and a private supper/reception at Tuscanes. Hopefully I will get my review done soon with some pictures
I'm so stoked to hear this!!! I cannot wait for your review and pics!!!!!! smile159.gif

Jasmin,

I see that you are having your wedding at the el dorado royale and are using destinationweddings.com...i am also using them and am seriously thinking of booking at the el dorado. Did you have good luck booking through destinationweddings.com?? I see all these offeres people are getting when booking their wedding and i was just curious if destinationweddings.com was able to get you good incentives with the resort and resonable prices? Any information you could give me would be awesome! Thanks!!

Hi Lauren,

The deal I got through DW.com was great (as far as I know). We have 80 guests so got some really cool perks:
-20% off of room rates (group booking)
-35% off of private events
-Bride and Groom Go Free
-Free room upgrade for B and G because we participated on a Karisma call
-$50 resort credit for all guests

My first TA with DW.com I had problems with. She was not on top of it and was entirely too unresponsive and careless with my guests for my tastes. So I called the manager and spoke to her personally and I was changed to Brittany Schiffler who so far seems to be awesome. It's stressful when the person assigned to you is not thorough. But luckily they are good about reassigning you and now I'm much happier.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help. :-)

Hi ladies!

Does anyone have any reccomendations on what to chose as the dinner choices for the free dinner at El Cocotal? I have 3 in mind but if anyone who has had their wedding there could share what was good that would help alot!

Also, ifyou have had the mexican donkey bar standing cocktail party what appetizers did you order? Was it enough food for everyone? Any info would be great.

I'm also having the sweet cocktail party after the free dinner. Anyone have any comments on how this worked out?

Thank you for any help!

Lauren

I'm so glad I found this forum!! I've had such a nightmare dealing with my TA from Wedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .com. I've noticed Jasmin you had to change your TA and I think I need to do the same. Currently, I have David Victor and he has been zero help other than booking our rooms. He hasn't helped us coordinate anything and I was wondering what all you had your TA do for you? We are going to have about 40-60 guests for our June 11, 2010 wedding and it looks like you have gotten some great deals. How much are your guests paying for 3nights/4days for double occupancy? I don't feel like I've gotten the best deal.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just so grateful that I now have other brides to talk to about EDR and destinationweddings.com

kathrat - I am also glad we have this forum because planning can be really stressful. Also it doesn't help when you have a sucky TA. I say switch! I'm definitely much happier.

My guests are staying 3 nights (Thursday - Sunday) and here are the rates:

Single - $671

Double - $521 per person

Triple - $521 person

What did yours quote you?

Jasmin - it sounds like you got a great deal! I am a bit jealous! I got a great rate of $360 per room per couple (180 per person i guess) so i was happy with that but did not get the bride and groom go free.... they called it that but really it was just an upgrade. And i would love the resort credit too....

For the rehearsal dinner at cocotal i am picking the salmon and chicken as entree choices. Seems everyone will like one or the other and then for the private wedding reception we have filet.

I have a chicago local TA and she is just helping with the rooms. For planning i use Valeria only and am really happy with that. She is super responsive and I guess because i do this for a living, i am not stressed at all. I know it will be beautiful.

Jasmin can you tell us if you negotiated any of the "extras" once you got there...? The ipod docking and wooden isle runner for the ceremony are like $250 each or something. That is nuts and total profit for the resort. I know i will haggle that!

Are you ladies considering a DJ? We orignially thought alot more people would come - we invited 50 couples but only 15 are telling us YES right now. I knnow we have time but for 30 guests and us, i think the IPOD is more economical.

Keep writing ladies - i have to check this site more!!!

Hey Jasmin!

This is what I was given back in October for our June 11,2010 wedding:

3nights/4days

Single Occupancy:
$712.24

Double Occupancy:
$552.16 per person

YES! Please keep posting everyone. This has been a huge help on things to think about and things to do!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
