El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Yes, I happen to be discussing this with Valeria this week. She told me that if you bring any outside flowers, you will be charged the $500 fee. Also, for some reason, if I choose to display my own centerpieces, then there is another fee.

Use your bouquets for centerpieces, but insist on seeing the vases they rent toyou. Bring non flower decorations (sea shells etc) and have a friend or family put them out. The tables are really pretty even without anything, beautiful tablecloths white on ivory. Good luck it's really a beautiful resort, a lot of flowers and greenery, not bare like the other new ones. Maybe threaten like they are lucky to get people to come to mexico with all the violence. I bet their bookings are really down.

I don't think I'll be able to use the bouquets as centerpieces because I will only have 7 bouquets (including mine) and we will be having 11 tables...but, it is a good idea for others. I will try negotiating since I am bringing 81 guests.

Also, Does anyone know what the "main" pool is called?

We had 5 bridesmaids and seven tables, just bought 2 more bouquets for centerpieces. And you should be negotiating with 82 guests!

Have you seen this map? map_doradoroyal.jpg

We liked the A2 La Isla Pool but the largest is A11 Fuentes but that was at the opposite end. We arranged to meet guest as they came in at JoJo bar R6 central near A2 pool.

Is the La Isla pool the "main" pool? I think I remember that when I took a tour last year. We're designing our weekend itinerary and We're trying to figure out which pool to tell people to meet us at each day.

I like that idea of meeting at a bar on the first day! I think that is what we will do....since everyone will be coming in at different times.

By the way, did you have a favorite bar to go to? We're thinking we'll meet everyone for drinks a few of the nights at the martini lounge and then take off from there....thoughts?

I am FINALLY getting around to posting some pictures of our wedding at EDR on 12/11/08. We loved everything about our wedding day! EDR does a great job. We had 13 guests total......very small and intimate. Our ceremony was at the presidential gazebo and our reception was as Tucanes. Please let me know if you have any questions!

David and I were so blessed to have won a free wedding photography and videography package here on BDW!! Our photographer was Kristi Klemens of KLK photography and our videographer was her fiance Paul Bennett of Blue Sky Videos. They are an amazing couple and we absolutely love them! Not to mention, they are SO talented! Here's our slideshows from our wedding day and TTD the following day at downtown PDC and some random cenotes Kristi and Paul found for us......ENJOY!!

This question is for PAST EDR Brides....

Did you have your dress steamed/pressed at the resort?

If so, were you happy with the result?

I can't decide what to do...I'm really nervous about having the resort do it. But, I think that if I get it done at home and then travel with it..it might get wrinkled.

Any thoughts?

The resort did a wonderful job, don't pay get it done at home. Just make sure to have it steamed the day before so you are not nervously waiting for your dress. The bridal shop where I bought mine from did steam it after alterations but the airlines didn't have a great place for it to hang. My mom hung my dress, all opened up, in her casita from the drapery rod. It looked good but I still had the resort steam it. I changed my mind as to where I was dressing and the concierge was great, personally picked it up and brought it (by golf cart) to my maid-of-honor's suite and opened the dress up again there for me. PS: The spa where I got my hair done also did an awesome job (I was very nervous about that too).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
