El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Silly Question:

How did you make everyone give you their picks for dinnerhuh.gif?

IE: for the rehearsal

AND

for the actual ceremony/reception

people are allowed one of two meal options. But these need to be specified 30 days before the wedding.

How did you contact them and ask their their choice?

Thanks!

Eden

I didn't do the couple's massage, but 2 of my girlfriends and their HB's did it, as well as my mom and aunt. Everyone just loved it! they thought it was amazing. My mom immediatly booked another one afterwards!

Everyone just booked while they were done there. I had read somewhere (Tripadvisor maybe) that it is actually cheaper to book & pay down there then online. However since everyone just booked down there - I can't confirm whether that is true or not.

Thanks, they range from $176 - $330 online. I think I'll wait until we get down there.

The private reception we are having is at an outdoor, at Tucanes.

Ugh!

I just cant decide on ANYTHING!
I dont know what is wrong with me!
Your not alone...It is very hard to decide on the menus and the locations without being there. I was suppose to be at Fuentes but they changed it just before I left because of an event they were having for the entire resort. So we did have it at El Cocotal's. We had the portobella mushroom, pasta with shrimp and ajillo sauce. That was fantastic... Then the main course was Salmon with ginger glaze or Chicken Terriaki. Everyone loved the Salmon and said they liked the chicken. I thought the chicken was okay. Yet after eating the pasta and other courses I was already full.

Private reception at Tucanes is a good choice. Very nice set up there.

Anything I can help you with let me know. We just got back tonight.

Hey MON (Mother of Newlywed) lol,

Did you get a chance to peek at the presidential gazebo? What did you think? I'm really starting to freak out because it seems every EDR wedding on the forum over the past year has been at 55 or Faisaines (sp?).

Also for the other recently married EDR brides who have seen the presidential gazebo, what is your opinion of it? Would you get married there or should I try to switch? I know Bre took one look at it and switched. Hopefully it won't be too late if I hate it once I'm down there to switch.

Yes, we thought it was a beautiful location. It is pretty close to Gazebo 55. Both have more foliage than what is shown on the EDR website, which we really liked, and both are fairly private since they are at the end of the resort. The one thing Gazebo 55 has going for it, is there aren't any sandbags in the water in front of it, but I think you'll be happy at either one of them.

Here's what someone who just got married at the Presidential Gazebo said on TripAdvisor:
"Also, I would definitely recommend the Presidential Gazebo if you plan on getting married there. Some of the other wedding locations were not nearly as private. One of the gazebos is actually right next to the main walking path, and a wedding there had to deal with people walking by and staring, and golf carts driving by. One of the other locations has beach chairs very close to it, and the resort does not make people leave if there is a wedding taking place. The Presidential Gazebo, on the other hand, was absolutely gorgeous and very private. The sandbags DID take a little away from the scenery; however, the clear, beautiful water, the white sand, and the gorgeous grounds more than make up for it.

Here's a picture of the presidential gazebo:

Once my daugher saw Gazebo 55, all her worries were gone as it was even better than she had hoped. I don't know how easy it would be to switch gazebos once you are down there so you should be pretty firm in your decision before you go. However, she did switch her reception from Tucanes to the Health Bar as she liked it's location across from the beach better. We did get a geat breeze there that you don't get at Tucanes, and they actually leave 4 or 5 tables with the chairs at the back of the Health Bar. It did keep some people back there rather than dancing, but they seemed to be glad for a place to relax and they probably wouldn't have danced anyway. The Health Bar also has a pool beside it and we had the large flowers from the gazebo cut into 2 pieces and floated in the pool along with some lanterns (Raphaela's idea - the head WC at EDR).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
