So only 2 more weeks until we leave!  :D

I think everything is pretty much in place with only a few more details left. The OOT bags are all finished. Of course we'll be putting them together when we get there!

I have to give props to so many posts and ideas I have seen from this website, pinterest and simple google searches!

Now, my new wedding coordinator is Martha. She states that we have to make our payment before we leave for the trip, however, I thought people stated they paid their final payment on site. I'm not sure what to do. Nervous about paying before it all happens.

Will post more later if I have time.

I also have our programs which we got from "FirstComesLovePrints" through Etsy. They are AMAZING and she was very easy to work worth. I definitely recommend her!

Since we are having our reception at Tucanes, I want the floating candles and poles wrapped with lights, but it seems like they are much cheaper if you wait to do this until we are on site, because from what I have read it's the way to go!

Happy planning ladies!

We don't have many decorations that we're bringing down. I bought a suitcase from Goodwill for $10 and as of right now I have the following packed in it:

-Sheers (3 different kinds)

-15 OOT Bags (Crossword puzzles, all the things I have pictures of)

-FlipFlops

-Little Gems to put on the tables for the reception

-Place Cards for the dinner

-Menus for Reception Dinner

-Koozies

And that's really it. I'm renting vases when I get there and using the bridesmaids bouquets as the center pieces. I'm not doing any chair covers or colored table cloths because I figure the surroundings will be beautiful enough and no one will remember this little stuff.

So I've been digging around this thread for a while now - gaining lots of knowledge and tips from fellow EDR brides. We're getting married in June 2016 and will probably have about 50 guests (reception at Tucanes). One of the reasons we picked EDR is the reviews about their food compared to other AIs. Unfortunately we won't be able to make a trip prior to June, so I have no idea what to expect for food (what they do well, what's just sub-par).

We really want to do family-style for our reception. I've seen people post about BBQ Deluxe menu, but can anyone vouch for the other family-style menu options?

Hello All EDR 2015 Brides!!!

Can anyone shed some light on packing suitcases and getting thru Customs into Mexico with Wedding Decor / Gifts / OOT Bags / Silk Bouquets (if anyone did this)....?

Is the total still $300 per person allowed into Mexico as "gifts"  (Items you will not be returning with).  Or has this increased to $500 per person?  Do you have to "claim" these items on the forms they have you fill out on the Plane???

Did people pack all their receipts?

HELP PLEASE!!!!   All stories are welcome!!!

I can't remember what the dollar amount was now but I found a Mexican customs page that was useful.

I didn't claim it on the form from the plane. I had all my receipts with me separated into 'gifts' and 'decor'. I also had a list on me that said exactly what and how much was in each suitcase.

We got the green light so had no issues. There was a bride on here last October who got searched and she just said it was for her wedding and they didn't care. She was in and out in 3 mins. Didn't even ask for receipts.

I also brought my guest list and wedding contract to prove if need be.

I think most get thru with no issues. Good luck

We had no problem with customs. I did have all my receipts on my carry-on, but I got the green light. I was so nervous, but i did not even get approached about all my decor, wedding dress etc. one thing I did do was wear my rings bc I didn't want to send them through X-ray and such.

We watched a wedding yesterday at tucanes which looked like so much fun.

Now, Getting married today! Fill you guys in when I get home.

I don't think the dollar value has increased. Check out this forum for more details: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/4239-customs-in-mexico-declaring-wedding-stuff/

We had no issues getting through customs either. We had one extra suitcase with welcome bag stuff (well over $500). I did have all receipts ready if need be, but got the green light and was in and out of the airport rather quickly. We also didn't claim anything on our forms. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
