let us know if we can answer any questions for you.

Hey guys,

I'm getting married at El Dorado October 11, 2015! I'm thinking about have the ceremony at the Garden Gazebo but that may change when I actually see the place. Is anyone else going to the bride's dress rehearsal April 23-26?

NickiLynn1116, your photos are beautiful! It makes me wanna splurge and get Sarani!

Hello past and future brides of EDR! We just booked our wedding for 12/11/15 and couldn't be more ovewhelmed. We just received our first email from Marisol and it feels like there is just too much information up front. Our current package is "Always and Forever" my question is, do most people start wtih this package and build their wedding from scratch? Do you save money doing it this way versus choosing a memorable moments wedding package? I really like the look of the Pure Glamor package but it seems like most of the cost is in the ceremony decor? What we really want is a basic wedding ceremony, a private reception and a good photographer. Our budget is about $10-$12K as we are planning an AHR as well...is this doable with a group of 20-30?

Hi @@LoLoJabs!

I have a similar situation. Getting married 10/11/2015 at EDR with about 20-30 guests. We are starting with the free "Always and Forever" and building from there. The Memorable Moments packages seem a little over the top for what we envisioned. Also, everyone says "less is more" when it comes to decor because of the natural beauty. From what I've learned on this forum, I think the best option is to pack your own decor in an extra suitcase and give everything to your wedding coordinator to set up. There will be a fee for setup but nothing compared to buying the decor from them. Also, we plan to go to the BDR so hopefully more of our questions will be answered. We are also having an AHR so we want to save $$ where we can!

If you like parts of the "Memorable moments" package, you can pick and choose parts are reduced cost. However, I don't know what the prices are. You can ask the wedding coordinator. (For example, the centrepiece and the chair covers vs. all the decor)

Check out the Official thread for some great information. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/73076-official-el-dorado-royaleel-dorado-casitas-royale-thread/

hi @@LoLoJabs - welcome to BDW! that budget is totally doable. most brides have gone with the a la carte pricing, bringing many of their own decorations. The bringing your own is really where the savings is - depending on how much you have to bring or want to bring with you. If you choose a really elaborate decor, and piece it together from Lomas the costs will add up ($5 per chair cover, $5 per table cloth, etc.)

the Memorable moments packages are just the decor - you still have to pay for the cocktail or dinner to have a private reception on top of that. as Murmel said, you can pick and choose pieces of the Memorable moments - flowers or centerpieces or ceremony decor or chair covers or all of it.

I also agree with @@jcook123 - more is less quite honestly. the settings are beautiful, and you don't need a ton of additional decor (unless that's what you envisioned!). don't feel pressured to do a chandelier and flowers out the wazoo if that really isn't what you want.

Have you visited the Lomas Wedding planning site? It has all the prices for the pieces, as well as more details on Memorable Moments.

Thank you, everyone. I think we will try to piece things together to get the biggest bang for our buck. I just need to pick a starting point and go with it

You will be hearing more from me I'm sure :)

Ugh I'm getting stressed!!!

With this time change thing going on, I feel like we should be moving the ceremony from 4pm to 5pm to accommodate it but the wedding planner seems to not be worried and isn't changing it.

I emailed Sarani to see what her opinion is as far as the sunset pictures, so I guess I will wait and see what she says.

On top of that - there has been a lot of talk on TripAdvisor about the beach at Maroma having a bad smell on the beach because of the construction there for the new overwater bungalows. I was just there in December for a work thing and didn't smell anything and didn't see the issue everyone is talking about but I'm still worried that there is an ongoing problem :( Dunno what to do.

Of all the years to change time zones and build things!!! :P

Welcome to the site girls!

I am getting married at EDR on December 30th. I have already booked Sarani's associate for the full day package. I couldn't get myself to spend the extra to get her. I am having our ceremony at Gazebo 55 and the reception at Tucanes.

I keep looking through Lomas, and I'm pretty sure I am going to be bringing everything. I'm looking at the floating candles (priced OUTRAGEOUSLY) and I'm pretty sure I'm going to bring my own for that, too. Does anyone know good sizes for floating candles for a pool? I'm googling as I type this, but I just thought I'd ask to see if anyone has done this in the past.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
