El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

No, they aren't allowed due to the fire danger. The roofs of the palapas all over the property are all natural straw-based materials. I know - major bummer! I don't think there are any resorts in RM that allow these anymore..

Thanks for all the help ladies!  Does anyone know if we are allowed to bring Chinese Sky Lanterns to use?

Ah booooooo!  Thanks for the info!  Im really hoping that things will go well with our on-site coordinator.  Our WC now has been a bit of a mess and its making things much more stressful than it should be.  She has told me 3 different prices for the same thing, told me incorrect prices for centerpieces (conflicted with what was online), sent me pics of cakes in a word doc that was made in 2005 (none of the cakes that were online were in her document) and takes weeks to respond.  We finally just decided to take as many of the extras off as we could and do mostly DIY.  Fingers crossed that the onsite WC works out better!

well boo to the frustrations you've had with the WC. the onsite team will be able to clarify everything for you when you arrive, and may be able to help add things back if you need/want them. for instance, I totally missed one of our entrees for the reception/dinner was incorrect on our spreadsheet, and we corrected it onsite. they recalculated the difference in pricing, and we paid it there. really no big deal! one of those things I almost freaked out about...

hello everybody....

Are there any El Dorado brides from the UK...?

I am considering booking through Thomsons, could u please share your experiences?

Also, does anyone know how much it is to get married on the sky deck? And how much the blood tests are & judge fees? As I believe these need to be paid locally???

Thanks in advance x

hi there @@barnet202! I think it's been a while since we've had any UK EDR brides.

It looks like the legal wedding is $500 USD (for the judge), and the blood tests are $125 USD each ($250 total). The blood tests are done at the resort itself. My best guess is these would be paid with the rest of your wedding package ahead of your arrival (typically 30 - 45 days prior to arrival).

Here's a little more info on the Wedding Officiant Options: http://www.weddingsbylomastravel.com/planning/Wedding-Officiants

I would get your TA to verify those prices and package availability, as it's possible that these are for Canadian/US residents only.

Lomas currently doesn't have a sky deck listed as an option for EDR, EDCR or even Generations RM, though I know Generations is planning to build a skydeck. I'm not sure when that would be available though.

@@jhare6714, who is your WC? I have Ana she seems to know her stuff well. I would see if you can switch...nothing worse than someone who doesn't know what they are doing!

Marisol is my WC.  She was so nice when we met her at the site visit, and still is very nice but just doesnt seem to have it all together.  Our wedding is just over 3 weeks away so I think weve powered through most of the stuff we needed her for and at this point just plan to work with the onsite person once we get there.  I thought about changing but it just seemed so late in the game.  However had I known all this ahead of time I definitely would have a long time ago.  My advice to anyone thinking about changing to a different WC is DO IT and DO IT SOON!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
