El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hello brides of BDW!

We're Gallardo Films wedding cinematography at Cancun and Mayan Riviera.

This month we had an amazing hindu experience which we want to share with you.

The following video is a " Same Day Edit" clip that means a clip captured, edited and delivered

the day of the wedding in the reception to show it to the guests of the bride and groom.

It's exciting to see the emotions and feelings that the family and friends get from watching the video the same day of the wedding!

Hope you like it and happy planning!

Hey everyone,

I'm a little less than the 3 month mark now  (March 29th) and feel like I have nothing done!!

I am going down the end of January for a tasting and to do some shopping etc. Does anyone know if the hotel will let me bring stuff down in January to hold for March?

We also want to do some shopping for supplies, decor etc. We will be staying at EDR but at the Hyatt Regency Cancun (I work for Hyatt and was able to use free rooms). I know there is a Costco and Walmart there but anywhere else you may suggest to do shopping? Local markets, etc?

We are having our reception at Tucanes and plan on using paper lanterns. Did anyone else bring their own? (Lomas prices are crazy!) How many did you use. In the picture on the official EDR thread it looks like 7 per section on the sides but it's really hard to tell. Also what did you use for lighting? Are LED throwies the best?

Last question (for now) did anyone bring their own linens (tablecloths, etc) I've seen websites posted here before with great prices but I'm a little nervous about there being wrinkles if we are bringing them down. Did anyone press them before travelling and then bring them with you? Were they wrinkle free on the tables?

Thanks so much!

Amanda

we were married on 6th November 2013 at the casitas d'italia gazebo at 3.30pm (I changed the time to 30mins earlier than planned due to someones suggestion on here so thank you for that!) me, my 2 bridesmaids, mother and mother in law all got their hair styled at the casitas spa - Vicky was excellent, although on the day I got my hair done last and was seriously rushing to get my makeup done which wasnt great but they didnt mind me being a little late! we used sarani photography and had a mini video done, Lunic was our photographer and she was absolutely brilliant, We couldnt be more happy with the pictures and video. We had a lovely dinner at D'Italia casitas and they put us in our own little room in the resteraunt which was a lovely suprise. The weather was perfect on the day but if I was to do it again I would definatly pick another DRYER month lol.

Hi there!

I would expect them to push back on holding stuff now for a March wedding. They won't want to be responsible for it - getting lost, taken, broken, etc. It never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if they say no.

I had about 40 total paper lanterns in various sizes I think, and they surrounded Tucanes really nicely. here's how it looked with our decorations:

We did the LED throwies and they worked out fine.

We took our table runners down with us, but they were the pintuck type of fabric that doesn't really show wrinkles. We also had our chair sashes, which didn't show wrinkles either. For the sashes, we had steamed them and folded them flat, then put them into the space bags for transporting. It worked out really well!

If you have satin linens, they may show the wrinkles more, and it might be worthwhile to get a travel steamer (or try to employ the steam function on the in-room iron).

It'll all come together - don't worry!!

@@AllieH I know I marked your post somewhere but I'm not sure where it is now with the new site. Would you be able to tell how many string lights you used and what they charged you to set up? I would really like to have lights around the posts as well as lanterns but I wasn't sure if it is worth the savings to bring my own and how many to bring.

I have a few other questions if anyone could help out.

Do you also know the table sizes (at Tucanes) and are they always round or are there some rectangles as well?

If I make a seating plan will they place the tables accordingly?

I'm sure I have more but I can't think of them now.

Thanks!

Oh I forgot to ask, does anyone know of a dairy free or Jewish bakery in the area where I could pick up a small cake just for me and my fiance. Also, since it is an allergy, do you think the resort will charge us an outside vendor fee for such a small item?

OMG Please help me.

My wedding is days away. 1.18.14

We need to still select the songs on the ipod/iphone for the ceremony. Any song suggestions and order?

We like country. We are not traditional so no over the rainbow, here comes the bride, What a wonderful world anything like that.

I just don't know how to put it together. I think I am concerned it will be like a concert. But don't know any upbeat fitting songs without words.

I keep looking at wedding videos but they have a song in the video, they don't play the song that was being played in person. The videos have things like good life - one republic and   Best Day Of My Life - American Authors.

Basically I am just lost. LOL

Miranda Lambert-Makin Plans

Big and rich lost in the moment

"All I Need To Know" (Kenny Chesney)

Sunshine - Steve Azar

Then - Brad Paisley

History in the Making - Darius Rucker

How Forever Feels - Kenny Chesney

Hey JessicaAshleyKC!

I found our music on Itunes... there was a lot of searching :) ...I'd start with looking at Acoustic Guitar Guy...he has 3 modern wedding albums(all instrumental). We ended up picking some songs from the Guitar Tribute Players...they have sooo many new and oldies that you can use and are up beat!

Hitched The Country Wedding  has some stuff too!

There was also a pretty piano album.. Search Piano Country Series.

Hope this helps!!

those are good options!! choose what you love - that's the bottom line. don't worry about it feeling like a concert. choose what has meaning to you.

Vitamin String Quartet has some great wedding music, mostly modern or rock, not country. I walked down the aisle to their version of Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are - super fun.

Cross My Heart by George Strait is one of my all time favorite country love songs.

Make You Feel My Love - Garth Brooks

Me and You - Kenny Chesney

Valentine - Martina McBride

Hi all

Going to Mexico Tuesday to do a tasting and some planning. We went to the bride rehearsal weekend last year but it was before we decided on a location so we weren't looking at individual particulars (ie: filet over lamb, etc etc) so my mom and I are going down this week. We are not staying at edr though, instead at the Hyatt in cancun since I work for the company and was able to use comp rooms there.

Has anyone gone and done a tasting prior to your wedding? Our sis march 29 so we have to have everything decided within the next two weeks. They are trying to be very strict about what we can taste though. Only two app, entree, dessert which I think is kind of not enough. We are having 5 separate private with different food at each. I'm getting really frustrated about this.

Also has anyone ever added something from one menu to another? They are saying if we do that, even if it is only one canapé, it becomes a custom menu and we'd no longer get the 20% off promotion we qualify for.

Any advice?......

Also we had been hoping to be able to leave one suitcase of things down there since we wanted to do some shopping down there but edr won't let us. I think Hyatt is going to let me as a professional courtesy so what stores, markets, etc would you suggest????

Thanks so much! I have not been stressed for the whole year (except for people booking last minute and me not being able to plan because. I didn't have a count) now that I can plan I have so much to do!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
