Agreed - that's why we did the sunrise photo shoot! I really liked that it was so mellow, because to me it felt like such a more peaceful vacation. Sometimes at the more partylike AI, you almost feel pressured to go out and and get wild. So we loved the totally laid back feeling. Plus....we're old haha. Even and home we're not crazy clubbers or anything.

Hi girls, I just received a quote for the flowers from El Dorado Royale and i found the price to be extremely expensive. Just wondering if anyone had used an external florist for their wedding. How much did the resort charge you to bringing in an external florist? Please share your experience with me!

Thanks a lot^^!

Hi Cat,

EDR's fee for any outside vendor is $800, in addition to whatever the vendor charges you. This is the same for photographers, florists, artists, etc.

I had fake (real touch/silk) flowers for my bouquet, our family corsages & bouts and brought those with me to keep costs down. We didn't do any other flowers. And honestly, our guests didn't realize the flowers were fake at all, nor did we miss having elaborate floral decorations. The venues are gorgeous with just a few personal touches/decorations.

Many brides will use a combination of fake & real flowers to cut down on costs. For example - fake flowers for the bouquets, corsages & bouts that you bring down with you, real flowers to hang on the gazebo. EDR will reuse the gazebo flowers as decorations if you also choose to do a private event (cocktail or dinner/reception).

Hope those ideas help!

I used the resort flower's because I really wanted real flower's, but they were able to make smaller bridesmaid bouquet's. I had a free wedding package so I only paid an extra $20 for my bouquet since the package included a $50 wedding bouquet and for the ladies I had four of them standing up and only paid $50 a piece which is pretty reasonable if you ask me. I am sure you can ask them what they would charge for a smaller bouquet or maybe single flower's and see what they say. My mom made the groomsmen because I wanted feather's to do something different for them.

I'm getting married in January at EDR. I have set up to purchase the boquets through EDR (also being used as decor for private party and dinner), and will be bringing down with me the boutonieres and corsages which I also purchased from Kate Said Yes on Etsy. -Paula

I'm not getting married at EDR, but I know that a number of brides at other resorts have gotten around the outside vendor fee for florists by meeting the florist at the entrance of the resort on the day of the wedding. Even with the delivery fee, you'll probably come out better purchasing from e outside vendor. There are a number of different florists that come recommended on the boards if you search for reviews.

This would not work at EDR, or at least I think it wouldn't.  EDR is quite large and the resort it self is quite a distance away from the gates.  At the gates they have a check in, and only vehicles on a list are permitted in and out of the gates.  So, so they would not be able to meet you at the front lobby where other services come in and out.

I agree with you, this for sure would not work at all!!! They try to make sure only the people on the list are allowed in, very secure which is a great thing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
